I am always armed (legally). In the rare event of being pulled over by a cop, I keep my hands on the windowsill and notify him that I have a permit in my wallet and a pistol on my hip. If for some reason the cop wants my weapon, I will offer to stand outside the vehicle, turn around and let him remove it. There is no way I'm touching it.
" I keep my hands on the windowsill and notify him that I have a permit in my wallet and a pistol on my hip."
In Colorado, we have no notification requirement, and I would never tell a cop I have a gun. I tend to think cops get real nervous and might mistake my "I have a permit and a concealed weapon" as a statement of " I have a gun" and then shoot me.
better hope you never get surrounded by a group of cops, with half screaming "GET OUT OF THE CAR!" and half screaming "KEEP YOUR HANDS WHERE I CAN SEE THEM, DON'T MOVE!", like that did to that kid (Maryland?) a couple of years ago.
