Don't switch sides now! Just because of a little video? That thing is obviously photoshopped. Cops can do no wrong.
The irony of this is that the kid probably had designs on becoming a cop - that is what any of my former MP friends did.
Wonder if he still wants to - maybe even more. At least he won't have to work overtime.
I don't see any basis for that unless you can find some kind of trend beyond what's on this tape.

Went to see the video, I have all of the above, but don't want to ever open the software. Silly me. :-)
Same here. I use FireFox, and won't use IE for anything.
I would like to see the tape, though.
Fox News showed the video early this morning. Probably will repeat it through the day. It was very disturbing to watch.
The way I see it, the LEO should fry. I'll wait for the investigation, but that video is damning.
There are several things to consider when serious incidents happen and when infractions happen. But first remember that either can be deadly.
We have to keep in mind the initial offense and what are the likely reactions for a normal person involved. A high speed pursuit in itself will cause everyone's adrenalin to bump way up. The officer is now in complete "RED ZONE" attitude. He is in danger by having to pursue the suspect, but the suspect is also endangering civilians. The cop is fired up.
Location of the incident has alot to play with these things too. Chino or Mayberry? If I was in a Mayberry type of town or community, I'd be a bit more relaxed for an infraction stop, than I would be in Chino. What's the gang situation, does the suspect appear to be the gang type in dress or actions? Is the driver a John Doe regular looking person and offers no obvious danger.
What kind of call was the Deputy on just prior to the pursuit? A violent call where he had to fight with someone to subdue them? Or maybe he just left the "Ye Olde DoNut Shoppe".
All kinds of things in the environment matter to how we all react to something. The point should be made that officers no matter where they are, need to always be in control of themselves and every situation. Once they lose control of either, things will get more dangerous.
This brings to mind the good old boy situations where some cops just have no business being cops at all. Cops jobs are to serve the people and to protect the people. To bad not all of the people want that. So cops have to more aggressive in some situations and some locales, just to stay alive.
It's easy to judge cops actions on Monday mornings, but once you get a real taste of the day to day work lives of these officers, you realize making the call of who did right or who did wrong is a lot tougher.
Fact is I can only speak from west coast cop experience, as there is a difference in attitude and methods of operations across the country. Generally the same, but not always. The FBI will tell you that from the get-go.
I see the case going to Federal court for prosecution of the Deputy for a Civil Rights violation.
"Perhaps I saw an enhanced version. Either way it looks like this cop might be going to jail."
Cops almost never go to jail for shooting unarmed citizens. It's one of the many perks of the job...
I've never switched sides. I'm always on the side of the cop acting correctly and within the bounds of the law. Anti-cop turds (We know who they are, don't we?) refuse to believe that any cop acts appropriately. Personally, I'd rather side with the good guys not the criminals. It is a free country, though.
I hope you don't get caught doing whatever you're doing.
ping for later...
Where "multicultural gun control" becomes ni&&er control, courtesy of California democrats.
Prosecutors encourage such thuggishness. Our legal system promotes murder by lawyers and cops. THEY CAN DO ANYTHING THEY WANT AND COVER IT UP, UNLESS LUCKY TO HAVE A VIDEO OF YOU LIKE IN THIS CASE
That would make a significant difference. The way it looks at first the cop is telling him to "get up", and then proceeds to shoot.
Not to blame the victim here, but the only smart reaction to a cop with a drawn gun is to be quiet, wait for, and follow instructions - approaching is never a good idea, nor is arguing.
Obviously you have not been through the legal system when innocent.
The system is DERESPONSIBILIZING ITSELF AS A RULE OF ANY WRONGDOING.
It's a form of institutional of hate of the other and racism. The system is what you have to worship.
Sure, there are good cops out there, but they sure have to hide it, because if they show they are for JUSTICE and not for LAWYERS OR THE SYSTEM, they get canned real quick.
Whistle blower cop in my area is getting canned and prosecuted for "lying"

" I keep my hands on the windowsill and notify him that I have a permit in my wallet and a pistol on my hip."
In Colorado, we have no notification requirement, and I would never tell a cop I have a gun. I tend to think cops get real nervous and might mistake my "I have a permit and a concealed weapon" as a statement of " I have a gun" and then shoot me.
