Sen. John Kerry claimed this morning on NBC TODAY that only 53% of America's children graduate from high school -- a claim that raised eyebrows in the NBC control room, sources tell the DRUDGE REPORT.
Kerry made the comments after host Katie Couric asked the former presidential candidate about the Bush's State of the Union call to train 70,000 additional teachers in math and science.
COURIC: He wanted to train 70,000 additional teachers in math and science.
KERRY: That's terrific. But 53 percent of our children don't graduate from high school. Kids don't have after-school programs... He didn't ask America to sacrifice anything to achieve great goals and the biggest example is making the tax cut permanent for the wealthiest people in America. The average American struggles to find time to take carry of families, working two or three jobs... It's a disgrace. He did not tell the real state of the union.
Kerry's 53% claim conflicts with a recent press release from the U.S. Census Bureau: "High School Graduation Rates Reach All-Time High"
And the Census Bureau's own website states: 85.9 Percent Of Americans Aged 20-24 Are High School Graduates. (U.S. Census Bureau Website, www.census.gov , Accessed 2/1/06)
Who needs facts when you have a good imagination?
So are a lot of the whorellywierd elites.
Even the Perky One seemed annoyed with Kerry.
Does that 85% number include kids from all types of schools -- including homeschooling?
Yeah, but she cant help it. Brain donors like her just dont have a prayer.
What he meant to say was that he was only in attendance at high school 53% of the time.
Maybe parents don't want to pay for kids to have after-school programs. Maybe parents would rather their children come home after school. Oh right, less time to indoctrinate those kids in good Dimmocrat values. Maybe I don't know any average Americans, but Kerry's grammer leaves a lot to be desired. Did he mean families work 2 or more jobs, or individuals work 2 or more jobs ? Maybe if taxes weren't so high Americans wouldn't need to work 2 or more jobs, hhmmm ? Why do all these politicians think an appeal to "sacrifice" is a stirring call to Americans ? Anybody here want to "sacrifice" anything ?
Well, it depends on what the definition of "graduate" is. I would think all they have to do is pass the "condom on the cucumber" exit exam, and they're ready for the world.
If Bush said this, the media would have a field day.
More palaver about tax cuts for the wealthy. Geez.
The top 20% of taxpayers in America pay more than 80% of the taxes. The bottom half of taxpayers? Only 4%. So, who needs tax cuts? People who don't pay taxes? Nonsense.
Senator Kerry is such a whining gasbag. The voters in MA must be positively crackers to keep returning this meathead to the Senate election after election.
LOL then we skew the statistics
So just how many URBAN children has Kerry fathered?
Is he in a race with Bill Cliton and Jesse Jackarse?
How do you figure that? There is no way half the kids don't graduate from HS.
In Kerry speak, what he meant to say was that 53% didn't graduate before they did graduate.
The 47% who don't graduate work in the ketchup mines of western Pennsylvania under the rule of the white raisin queen.
probably on her knees too.
He considers the low-wage staff at several of his mansions scattered around the globe to be "average Americans".
