The wife of Rep. C.W. Bill Young, R-Indian Shores, told a newspaper that she was ejected during the State of the Union address for wearing a T-shirt that says, "Support the Troops Defending Our Freedom."
Beverly Young told the St. Petersburg Times that she was sitting in the front row of the House gallery Tuesday night when she was approached by someone who told her she needed to leave.
She said she reluctantly agreed, but argued with several officers in an outside hallway.
In a telephone interview with the newspaper, Young said she told them her shirt wasn't a protest but a message of support.
Capitol Police Sgt. Kimberly Schneider said Young wasn't ejected from the gallery and she left on her own. She couldn't provide additional details.
Young's husband found out about the incident after Bush's speech and called it unacceptable.
I think it's awesome. See, Cindy, you aren't being unfairly targeted!
Miss Paula is our resident FReeper manners expert. Miss Paula, any thoughts?
Well, I dunno about that, perhaps a flag lapel pin would have gotten the point across.
Is Congress supposed to know any better? I thought they were the Stupid People's House.
Scary to think Hillary might be somebody's role model! LOL
No kidding.. the whole clapping at the fact that no social security changes were done.
Shameful and childish.
I agree! After living overseas for almost 13 years, I was shocked to return to America and see so many people who have lost their manners. Everywhere I look, there are people talking with their mouths full, putting feet on other things than the floor, wearing hats indoors, swearing in public, and wearing clothes that aren't appropriate for going in public. I have to work so hard to get my 13 year old son to maintain the manners we've taught him because of all the bad examples out there. Being a proud American, I hope my fellow citizens realize how embarrassing this is and shape up.
This lady probably has no idea that wearing a T-Shirt to a formal event is inappropriate.....if she grew up in a cave. Watch any TV show or movie produced in the last five years, and you'll be hard pressed to find one without someone displaying poor manners.
Oh, yeah.
I haven't lived near one for decades. Have to get by on frozen ones. Not too bad as long as you remember to stick on a good pickle and a generous dollop of ketchup.
There is nothing -- absolutely nothing that is anything like a White Castle. The folks who turn their noses up at them "because they'er so small" have no idea what they're missng.
Size does not equate to quality. For confirmation, consult with your nearest diamond merchant, or caviar vendor, etc. Or, sit down to a sack of White Castles. Yum!
Watch out...Cindy Sheehan is looking for a 1st Amendment lawyer. She wants to sue according to article on Drudge report. Do you have caller ID?
