Avrett, 29, lost custody of her daughter in 1999, when Haleigh was 4, after Avrett’s half-sister, Holli Strickland, told DSS that Avrett’s boyfriend at the time had sexually abused the child. The charges were never substantiated. Strickland later adopted Haleigh. She was arrested last September with her husband, Jason, on charges of nearly killing the girl. Strickland was later found dead in an apparent murder-suicide with her grandmother, Constance Young. Tells me everything I need to know.
