Remember that South Dakota kicked Daschle out of the Senate too. They are smart up there.

I have a message to the Supreme Court. Breyer or Stevens, your honors, PLEASE RETIRE. How's that?

Someone stated that she recently again heard in the media that "Terri expressed a desire to die." This is misinformation that apparently still is circulated by the media.

There is no evidence, and never has been, that Terri wanted to die. How many people would choose to die a barbaric death by dehydration?

I missed the case of Tirhas Habtegiris until you pointed it out. Ronald Bailey makes the incorrect asssumption that right-wingers didn't care, if I am but one example. This culture of death is every where.

Thanks for the link on the PAC for Terri. I especially liked the following paragraph:

"We'll match 'TerriPAC' dollar for dollar, ad for ad if we have to," Greene told the Cybercast News Service. "We cannot simply sit by and allow solid, pro-life politicians to be targeted by the pro-death forces."

BUMP to #756 Junior and Haleigh's birthdays both on Feb. 24.

I caught only a fragment of interview with Dantforth. I don't know if I heard right - but did he slam the Republicans for supporting Terri? Maybe I heard it out of context.

The photo of little junior, just breaks my heart. My prayers for his recovery are with him and his family.

Regarding your post #746 - the 27 year old woman in Texas, who was forced to die this past December. I do NOT like what is happening in Texas. From the link you posted, I ended up reading a message board of mostly Bush haters, who for the most called pro-life people, hypocrites. Apparently Bush signed the law in 1999, when he was the governor of Texas. The posts were full of propaganda about Terri's condition, as is the case in the majority of MSM reports.

Their main issue was the lack of voices coming from the people who fought to save Terri. I have no idea if what they are saying is true or not. I do not remember hearing about the case previously. I would think the majority of people who fought to save Terri, would be just as outraged by what was done to Tirhas Habtegiris. I doubt one could even begin to imagaine the horror Tirhas and her family went through as they watched them turn off the machine. Talk about cruel and unusual punishment. It was not her wish or desire to die, but it happened regardless. So much for choice and rights.

**South Dakota criminalizes abortion. I hope they criminalize murderous courts and medical providers who starve and dehydrate innocents to death who had no wishes or maybe those w/a Living Will who changed their mind but the torture is not halted! **

I hope so too, FV. It's horrible to realize how insane things have become. I think the media coverage during Terri's torture, was basically to call attention to living wills. Those who push them have an agenda and it's not to help the person who gets one. Most people have no idea just how dangerous they are. DNR means exactly that - Do NOT rescue - no treatment. How far are they going to go in defining treatment? Who would have every thought Food and Water would be defined as medical treatment? What's next - penicillan? I'm sure most will remember Schiavo wanted to DENY antibiotics to Terri early on, but was stopped by the hospital.

And then when you consider the case of Mr Stith, who had a stroke, but instead of being treated for the stroke, he was sent to the death camp (hospice), to be DENIED water, until he died, even though he expressed a desire to live.

This whole issue is not about anyone rights. That's total BS. When will America wake up and realize the agenda is FORCED EXIT?

Are you speaking of the Dantforth that did President Reagan's funeral? If so, I've heard him bash Republicans before for supporting Terri. Therefore, I doubt you heard it out of context. He was very clear in the past, about supporting Terri's death.

Dr. Hammesfahr's experience with her must have been rewarding.

Remember when he put the q-tip thing in Terri's mouth? Dr. Hammesfahr said she wouldn't smile at him any more that day!

Fun! I had quite forgotten that, so went back to reread Dr. Hammesfahr's testimony about his examinations. Here it is -- he was testing to see if she could feel pain (answer, yes: all over her body).

"On the face, noxious stimulation including cotton swab up the nose and gag sensation and papillary touch with cotton evidenced a pain response. These were more than just reflexes, as she appeared to be annoyed by these painful responses long after they had stopped, and would not smile at me again for the rest of the day."

Interestingly enough, MS was present and paying close attention. He would soon after claim that she could feel no pain when he had her put to an agonizing death. That could not have been mere error on his part. He knew it was a lie.

Dr. Hammesfahr's general impression, based on his own and Dr. Maxfield's examinations. Why didn't we see this in the press?

"Impression:

"The patient is not in coma.

"She is alert and responsive to her environment. She responds to specific people best. She tries to please others by doing activities for which she gets verbal praise. She responds negatively to poor tone of voice. She responds to music.

"She differentiates sounds from voices.

"She differentiates specific people's voices from others.

"She differentiates music from stray sound.

"She attempts to verbalize.

"She has voluntary control over multiple extremities

"She can swallow.

"She is partially blind

"She is probably aphasic and has a degree of receptive aphasia.

"She can feel pain.

"On this last point, it is interesting to observe that the records from Hospice show frequent medication administered for pain by staff."
