Battle over Schiavo starts anew in books

On March 27, a year to the week after Schiavo's death, the publisher, Dutton, plans a nationwide release of a book by Michael Schiavo, her husband. The next day, Warner Books plans to release a book her mother, father, sister and brother.

[David] Gibbs said he knows the Schindlers "would like to communicate the profound respect and love they had for their daughter and sister Terri and...how terribly wrong it is to dehydrate and kill people as was done to Terri. In a sense, through their pain, they're hoping that no other family lives through the nightmare they endured."

A blurb on the cover of Michael Schiavo's book, which was written with author Michael Hirsh and is called Terri: The Truth, gives a hint of its tone:

"A religious zealot offered $250,000 to anyone who would kill me. My two babies were threatened with death. I was condemned by the president, the majority leaders of the House and Senate, the governor of Florida, the pope, and the right-wing media, all because I was doing what Terri - the woman I loved - wanted. I didn't respond to their attacks. I didn't confront their lies. Until now..."

I have more respect for someone who blows another away with a shotgun ...

That's a hideous thing to say, especially from one who claims to be pro-life.

>> My two babies were threatened with death.

No, they weren't. But your wife was. You did the threatening yourself. And you killed her.

No you weren't. They said what you were doing was wrong, or they asked you to reconsider, or they prayed for you. That's not the same thing at all.

Lest someone misinterpret 8mm's post, the statement was

I have more respect for someone who blows another away with a shotgun than someone who tries to dress up the act and ekes pleasure out of the subtle cruelties of "happy" death like the Murder at Woodside and all the euphemisms surrounding it.

8mm still expressed respect for a murderer. That should perturb any rational person.

Hey, but it's still about Terri, right? Michael can't seem to stop talking about I, I, I.

"I kept my promise." Yeah, Michael, we know.

Any rational person could understand the gist of what he was saying, and respect for a murderer wasn't it.

I sure hope there Jeb will support a real investigation. I always had a feeling that he just didn't care about Terri.

BTW, Wendy Murphy stated last night that Haleigh is showing signs of improvement.

In order to understand that statement, you would need to know the difference between bad and worse. You would also need to understand common phrases. If someone says they'd rather kiss a dog's butt than Janet Reno's face, you wouldn't understand that statement unless you were familiar with that method of turning a phrase, and knew what Janet Reno looks like. Almost everyone understands the meaning, but someone who thinks Janet Reno is sexy would interpret that to mean they like to kiss dog butts even more than they like to kiss Janet Reno's face. Of course, the person who believes that would be in the minority, and everyone else would be repulsed by their opinion. Much like your opinion that someone who tries to dress up the act and ekes pleasure out of the subtle cruelties of "happy" death like the Murder at Woodside and all the euphemisms surrounding it is good, and anyone who thinks they're worse than someone who blows another away with a shotgun must really like shotgun murders. Your misinterpretation of a well understood phrase reveals much about you.

Thank you for your personal account. I thought it was a tragic accident for quite a while. My oldest daughter was quite a fan of Princess Diana(K was stil in HS at the time and you know about princesses and fairy tales-oy vey), and after the funeral, I just banned the subject. Everytime she started crying, I couldn't help starting up again. Our eyes were darn near swollen shut by the time the funeral was done.

No. Professional chauffers who are in charge of delivering dignitaries to a destination, are well scrutinized. Don't forget that Henri Paul wasn't scheduled to drive the Princess. It was a last minute switch, according to records.

That must have been the ultimate bummer of a vacation : (

Well hell, what does starvation do to vital organs? One would think they would desicate and be completely useless! How about the victims of car wrecks? What shape are their organs in???

The question is hypothetical and we can do an opinion poll. This will have exactly the same amount of bias that is found in any other public opinion poll.

Q. You are going to be murdered. (Don't argue, this is just a poll question.) Do you prefer to be killed by:

a) [___] A shotgun blast. You'll be gone so fast you won't feel pain. Your killer will probably be caught and punished.

b) [___] A slow agonizing dehydration death by a sadistic torturer who hates you, takes delight in your agony, takes pleasure in denying you any kindness or any relief of your pain, who steals your money, and who covers up his hideous crime with liberal twaddle-talk and lies to make it sound as if he were doing you a huge favor, and who -- you realize -- will get away with it.

Question 2. Would you rather kiss:

a) [___] Janet Reno's face

b) [___] A dog's rear end

c) [___] Cannot tell the difference

Oh, now, stop bringing real life into the middle of a good spoof :-) Auto wreck victims -- especially motorcyclists with massive head injuries -- are a prime source of organs for transplant.
