In the court (and courts) of life and death, a little 11-year-old Massachusetts girl named Haleigh Poutre could be the next Terri Schiavo. For those who have not heard the tragic story, Haleigh was beaten nearly to death last September, allegedly by her adoptive mother and stepfather. The beating left her unconscious and barely clinging to life.
Within a week or so of the beating, her doctors had written her off. They apparently told Haleigh's court-appointed guardian, Harry Spence, that she was "virtually brain dead." Even though he had never visited her, Spence quickly went to court seeking permission to remove her respirator and feeding tube. The court agreed, a decision affirmed recently by the supreme court of Massachusetts.
And so, no doubt with the best of intentions, a little girl who had already suffered so much was stripped by the Commonwealth of Massachusetts of even the chance to fight to stay alive. If she didn't stop breathing when the respirator was removed, which doctors expected, she would slowly dehydrate to death.
Close Call
Then came the unexpected:

Children are more likely than adults to significantly recover from severe brain injuries, and some neurologists say they would want to wait at least a year before concluding that a child had stagnated in that state with no hope for a better life.
''I wouldn't give up before a year," said Dr. Douglas Katz, medical director of the traumatic brain injury program at Braintree Rehabilitation Hospital.

It is the second paragraph that really worries me. Will THEY decide whether or not her life is worth living after a year or so?
That's what it sounds like to me. I pray they will change their minds to ever consider removing her feeding tube. While I'm sure it is no picnic to have considerable brain damage, it is also not worth killing someone over. There are worse things in life, giving up is one of them. Time should be on Haleigh's side, not against her.
George Greer is a politician, on the government payroll, an agent of government. George Greer IS the "government interference" in this case. It was precisely his officious interference into private matters that prevented Terri's family from having any say in her medical care. Michael Schiavo has no objection to politician Greer, who granted his every demand, legal or not.
Mr. Schiavo does not have the onions or the honesty to say that it is not politicians he objects to, but people in or out of government who think he's a vile murderer.
These are the words I fear most. Whether the patient will "recover" is rapidly becoming the benchmark for euthanasia. Already, supposed chances of recovery are routinely used to argue for killing the patient. The presstitutes picked right up on it.
Nobody has a crystal ball. Nobody truly knows if a patient will get better or how much better. The decision to kill will be made in the dark. If poor prognosis is the standard for snuffing patients, there may be no more medical miracles in the future. Patients will be in the crematorium before God can hear anyone's prayers. Among them will be many who would have recovered, and all of them will have been denied their right to live.
People are complaining all over the place about Ted Stith's quick death after he was shipped from a Hospice hooked onto a hospital (can you say conflict of interest?) to a hospice where he died.

Michael Schiavo on MSNBC right now talking about his PAC.
HINO on MSNBC again. After they propagandize Terri's case, HINO will speak. On now.
Terri case and HINO on MSNBC right now.
Michael invited politicians to hospice but it was after she had been dehydrated for already a week. Some offer he made. Michael Schiavo looks terrible. Must be rough to get your wish. Greer looks terrible and so does Michael Schiavo. Look at the bags under his eyes. He's tormented.
And a bad actor, IMO. Did you see the last when he teared up and acted like he was going to cry? And those last words he said about Terri. How fake!
What a coincidence. So was I. After the primary next September and I'm gone.
He still hasn't figured out that he is not God. Terri is not with Michael. She's with God. Michael doesn't own her, and he never did.
He got a judge to kill Terri for him. There was nothing fake about that. Dehydration does unimaginable things to the body.
He no showed at so many depositions as did Jodi Centonze. I supposed it's because he is such a bad actor. He dodged depositions and never had to answer the tough questions. Now he is going to have a pac to punish politicians and to do what? Find other people to dehydrate?
During tonight's interview, Michael Schiavo shed "crocodile tears" while taking about his marriage to his long-time mistress and his unending love for Terri. The man is sick.
Schiavo told Keith Olbermann that he and Jodi, along with a few friends, spent their honeymoon in Las Vegas.
Schiavo: "I love Terri and Jodi."
Sin City has a whole new meaning now. I'm sure they used Terri's money to pay for the honeymoon and the wedding.
Ten people on a honeymoon sounds kinda sick.
Mikey should be on his knees thanking REPUBLICAN GEORGE GREER for making Terri's murder possible for him. For him to target republicans is laughable. Pinellas County GOP is a left wing group.
