Danger Zone - (Haleigh Poutre)
National Review ^ | February 01, 2006 | Wesley J, Smith

Posted on 02/01/2006 7:29:10 AM PST by Ohioan from Florida

In the court (and courts) of life and death, a little 11-year-old Massachusetts girl named Haleigh Poutre could be the next Terri Schiavo. For those who have not heard the tragic story, Haleigh was beaten nearly to death last September, allegedly by her adoptive mother and stepfather. The beating left her unconscious and barely clinging to life.

Within a week or so of the beating, her doctors had written her off. They apparently told Haleigh's court-appointed guardian, Harry Spence, that she was "virtually brain dead." Even though he had never visited her, Spence quickly went to court seeking permission to remove her respirator and feeding tube. The court agreed, a decision affirmed recently by the supreme court of Massachusetts.

And so, no doubt with the best of intentions, a little girl who had already suffered so much was stripped by the Commonwealth of Massachusetts of even the chance to fight to stay alive. If she didn't stop breathing when the respirator was removed, which doctors expected, she would slowly dehydrate to death.

Close Call

Then came the unexpected:

Thanks for your replies. What I don't understand is why Demers and Greer would be pictured in a banner that seems to celebrate the age of the company. Were they partners or employees, I wonder? Is that really even them? I did a little bit of looking around and it appears that there were originally six principals of that law firm: Johnson, Blakely, Pope, Bokor, Ruppel and Burns. It would make more sense if that were a picture of them. If anyone has any more information that can shed some light on this, I would appreciate it.

Greer from that seventies show. He's violating Judicial Canon 2 every time he receives an award from a special interest group for what he did to Terri.

There's no statute of limitations on murder, even for judges.

I doubt there's any mystery. They were looking for fetching photos of the founding partners of the firm from 30 years ago. This one photo showed most of the partners in a friendly light from the days when they founded their firm. It's a plus for them to have Greer and Demers in the shot. One partner obviously wasn't present for the other photo, so they used a different shot of him.

While we're at it, I simply punched the first three names of the law firm into Google. Hit #2 was the law firm. Hits 3 & 4 start mentioning....... scientology. Well, now! Hit 3 link is below. Is it not a little strange that if you google three members of a certain law firm, you reel in George Greer, cronyism and echoes of the horrible case of Lisa McPherson?

Scientology, The Clearwater Bar Association, and Judge Greer

I never heard of this group, so until we know more, let's start by taking their info with the usual grain of salt. However, on a quick reading, it seems in accord with other information we've seen.

Unfortunately, the nurse is a government employee first, nurse second. She would technically be considered a willing accomplice. If it was in the 'hood, the person who stood by and watched someone being murdered would most likely be charged as an accessory. I think so, anyway. I'm a little rusty on this stuff.

I've mentioned that I live in CA. Last year, there was an altercation at a gas station in Inglewood, IIRC. A young Black man was beaten within an inch of his life. He was cuffed and up against the car. Turns out, Einstein grabbed one of the officer's testicles as the cop leaned in. Ooops.

Now our MSM and Black groups (Jesse was holding press conferences, natch)were all over this, screaming about rogue cops, blahblahblah. We have some interesting ones out here that's for sure, but when EVER there is a problem, it's always the cops fault. Florida seems to be the opposite. Here we have a 14 yr old boy who is already weak from over exertion. He is not putting up a fight, yet his death is blamed on having the presence of Sickle Cell genes???? Thank God someone grabbed a copy of that tape.

FV, face it. All politicians turn out to be craven bums eventually. Those who are genuinely good, don't get elected anymore.

Very concise timeline. I don't understand why people aren't at least questioning the obvious turn of events once the malpractice award was granted. I've been trying to point that out as a strong motive for murdering Terri(imo, another good one was to keep her from regaining her speech capabilities), until I'm blue in the fingers!

I should have added, the bxw photo must have been some photo of buddies, maybe from law school days. Those shown are not all associated with the law firm. On the caption, it says, "At the time the photo was taken, Johnson, Blakely, Bokor and Pope were partners in the law firm now known as Johnson, Pope, Bokor, Ruppel and Burns."

Demers and Greer pursued different careers. I doubt that they have ever had a connection with the law firm except for being buddy-buddy with the partners.

What we really see here is the cronyism. Demers court upholding Greer death rulings. Tim Johnson presenting Greer with that bar association award for executing Terri.

They have a huge emotional and/or political investment in a different view of the events. It is extremely traumatic to surrender such a view. The first defense for true believers like this is ignoring or denying the facts.

To take another instance -- with the bulimia theory now eliminated, they have NO explanation how Terri went from healthy to nearly dead after an argument with Michael. Out of habit they keep saying she "collapsed" but there is no evidence that she did. There is a lot of medical evidence pointing to strangulation, probably by a choke hold or some other method that cut off the blood flow in her carotid arteries. The only suspect is walking around as free as the only suspect in the murder of Nicole Brown Simpson.

I think that it could stem from a personal dislike for some of the messengers, and they'd rather eat broken glass than agree with some folks. This is just a little too important for sibling rivalry stuff. For some it is impossible to say, you were right.

Hell, I can't believe that with an "in your face" timeline such as this, Judge Greer still sits on the bench, collecting awards that he's not supposed to be collecting, and that MS is a free man. I cannot believe it went all the way to the bitter end.

Of course where there is an agenda to advance, there ya go. You can picket, email, fax, show up and protest, but damn the evidence, the plan will go through.

I wonder if OJ and MS ever bump into each other at the golf course?

"U.S. Rep. Barney Frank will keynote the conference"

Having Barney Frank keynoting the conference wouldn't be considered a compliment to me. After reading some of the news items about him...how in the world can anyone vote for him? Isn't he the one that had a brothel in his basement and claimed he didn't know it was there?

Part of the same thing. This stuff has a lot to do with style and manners and cliques, ins vs. outs, us vs. them. At least on the surface.

Now, it gets a little more complicated because they are devout haters with no tolerance of any other view. In contrast, we are enjoined not to hate; to love our enemies; and to pray for them who use us despitefully. This we do (1) because Jesus said to do it, (2) because we feel the rightness of it in our hearts and souls, and (3) because it drives them bonkers.

>> collecting awards that he's not supposed to be collecting

But of course he is supposed to collect awards. Liberalism is three-quarters show biz. Liberals are forever giving each other awards for their liberalism. In the think tanks and foundations, they give each other lucrative grants for nutsy studies. In the academy, they give each other tenure, bonuses, titles, chairs, and fancy degrees. They give Pulitzers to liberal writers, Oscars to the freakiest stars and movies of the year, Nobel peace prizes to people like Yasser Arafat, Jimmy Carter and any other pond scum they can scrape up. Their whole idea of merit is being "liberal-er than thou."

Needless to say, those who hold more traditional values are shunned in these orgies of liberal self-appreciation.

Ooooh, yuck, basements are cold and clammy. Nobody likes to go down in the basement for fun and games. The action was right in Barney's apartment.

I guess it could be from law school days, but it still seems odd to me that they would be included in a picture for a company banner. The cronyism part I get.
