In the court (and courts) of life and death, a little 11-year-old Massachusetts girl named Haleigh Poutre could be the next Terri Schiavo. For those who have not heard the tragic story, Haleigh was beaten nearly to death last September, allegedly by her adoptive mother and stepfather. The beating left her unconscious and barely clinging to life.
Within a week or so of the beating, her doctors had written her off. They apparently told Haleigh's court-appointed guardian, Harry Spence, that she was "virtually brain dead." Even though he had never visited her, Spence quickly went to court seeking permission to remove her respirator and feeding tube. The court agreed, a decision affirmed recently by the supreme court of Massachusetts.
And so, no doubt with the best of intentions, a little girl who had already suffered so much was stripped by the Commonwealth of Massachusetts of even the chance to fight to stay alive. If she didn't stop breathing when the respirator was removed, which doctors expected, she would slowly dehydrate to death.
Close Call
Then came the unexpected:

It was neither symbolism nor analogy, but even if it had been, what good would that have done? Symbolism doesn't help a hurting child.
This is so demented. I just hope someone with clout will investigate Judge Greer. Among those in power there seems to be a desire to have judges rule, no matter how corrupt. We have no right to preach to other countries about democracy when we have crazy judges flaunt laws.
but you know this. you just like to harp on my posts.
He's a demented, enemy of the people but remember, he's a demented republican and nobody wants to step on his demented toes.

(sarcasm tag or someone will take my post out of context)
Praying for Haleigh is not a symbolic gesture, and I never said it was. If I "harp" on your posts, it's only because they are inconsistent with logic or rational thought.
Summerville sounds so harmless, doesn't it? Unfortunately when Terri was at summerville, formerly known as Park Side or Place, Hospice went with her. She was not allowed to go outside, the blinds were drawn and she couldn't attend a freaking bird show. It's on Drew St.
The name change to Summerville won't erase the time that Terri spent there IMPRISONED.
I suggest that you stop harping on my posts. I am not here for your entertainment.
second stringer on the thread, not you of course.
Observing the factual discrepancies or lack of rational thought in a post is neither harping nor trolling. Here's a novel concept for you: not everyone who disagrees with you even slightly is a troll. It's simply someone with a different view who may have additional facts to present. If you are so confident of the rightness of your opinions, you shouldn't be so afraid of contrary ones. Screaming "troll!" whenever someone questions a statement is the sign of someone who really doesn't know what she's talking about.
You really ARE a troll. You last sentence in which you try to discredit me and only me (worth noting) is proof of same.
you are also engaging in mind games - give it a rest. This is the end of the line for you and me. sayonara.
Anyway, keep up the good fight as I know you will.
You call this a logical statement. It isn't logical. It isn't illogical, either. It's simply a statement or "proposition." Logic has nothing to do with it at all.
The discipline of Logic is concerned with correct or incorrect reasoning. Its concern is how the truth of some (related) propositions is connected with the truth of another. You must make an argument based on several propositions, one of which, called the conclusion, is substantiated by the others, called premises, IF you have reasoned logically.
>> Making a logical comment shouldn't cause one to be branded a troll or accused of starting a flame war, but it does.
Nonsense. What gets one a reputation as a troll is bad manners, negativism and violation of the rules and spirit of Free Republic. You were earning a reputation long before this trivial incident. Remember this? >> Comment #612 Removed by Moderator << (Thread: Scott Thomas update: mom's guardianship continued!)
What will improve your reputation like magic is statements like this:
I think it's wonderful that she is recovering, and I pray for her complete healing.
Thank you. I pray for her healing too. I think we all do.
Your posts are very useful. They bump the thread, which brings it to the attention of more people. They increase the size of the thread, which is a wonderful symbolic gesture that helps Haleigh's situation. Most importantly, they reveal how wrong your side is. Please, bump the thread again.
Your grammar wears combat boots :-)
Your grammar's so fat, when she backs up, she beebs.
We'd better call a truce before we start working our way through Yo Grammar is so fat...
Just wanted to say (are you ready for this?)... you correct me up!
