LIVE THREAD: House Meets at 10am - C-span 1; what will they say about the SOTU and Cindy Sheehan
C-span

Posted on 02/01/2006 6:48:20 AM PST by ken5050

Before you ask WHY???????....here's why...The House meets today at 10am, for a full working schedule. Normally, after the prayer and Pledge of Allegiance they have a "morning hour" where members can speak on any topic for a minute or two. The comments after the SOTU are generally very partisan, and from the Dem/moonbat reps, often pathetically funny. And I do hope, indeed expect, that some GOP members will take Lynn Woolsey to task for her shameless stunt in giving Cindy Sheehan a visitor's pass to the SOTU yesterday..So, we might have some fireworks......If you're around...check in for an hour or so..

Good grief. Compton has to know that there rules folks have to follow if they're allowed to sit in the gallery. Sheehan didn't follow the rules.

Compton, what part of that do you not understand?!

The House called recess a few minutes ago as the Democrats have to take care of some leadership business. How can they look for something that they know isn't there?

Before they broke, Rep Bill Nelson brought up that his wife was asked to leave the chamber during the SOTU. She was wearing a "Support Our Troops" sweatshirt. He said that somebody near the door identified her as a protester. He also said she flashed open a jacket to to show the shirt when he said she had none. He was upset about it.

Sounds like they were doing a zero tolerance of any message. Not great but it sounds fair.

I hate the pussyfooting done in the senate. Rather than doing some political gymnastics, someone should just come to the floor and tell her it was retarded and then move on with today's agenda.

A task that is certain to take quite some time given the lot to choose from!

I think the Sergeant at Arms for the Senate would be responsible for any fines or penalties. Hopefully, there's something that can be done.

Seems when Harry Reid was asked who the leaders of his party were he said it was an unfair question.

That the dems chose eyebrow man to give their rebuttal proves there are NO dem leaders in D.C.

They're all morally and intellectually bankrupt.

I disagree. I takes away her cover as Sheehan can't say she was singled out.

The pictures last night showed a man in what appeared to be a Navy uniform, escorting the nutcase out of the gallery.

The absolute worst thing the conservative media could do today would be to focus on Cindy Sheehan and not on the President's State Of The Union address. She/they will have achieved their objective if all we hear today is her name. Don't take the bait and get hooked.

Compton when on to say that the bomb-sniffing dog that Laura Bush invited was allowed to stay but Sheehan was made to leave.

Yeah, so? RHIP

That seemed particularly telling to me. One might think they are trying to move to a more moderate stance, but that does not seem characteristic of the current DNC under Howie. I concluded FWIW they were trying to symbolize Republican defeat and illustrate what the Dems would put in replacement. Didn't work for me.
