Since "Free Republic is an online gathering place for independent, grass-roots conservatism on the web. We're working to roll back decades of governmental largesse, to root out political fraud and corruption, and to champion causes which further conservatism in America.", I and others think it's a good idea to centralize what the goes on in the Senate (or House).
So if you see something happening on the Senate/House floor and you don't want to start a new thread to ask if anyone else just heard what you heard, you can leave a short note on who said what and about what and I'll try and find it the next day in THE RECORD. Or if you see a thread that pertains to the Senate, House, or pretty much any GOV'T agency please link your thread here.
If you have any suggestions for this thread please feel free to let me know.
Here's a few helpful links.
C-SPAN what a great thing. Where you can watch or listen live to most Government happenings.
C-SPAN 1 carries the HOUSE.
C-SPAN 2 carries the SENATE.
C-SPAN 3 (most places web only) carries a variety of committee meetings live or other past programming.
OR FEDNET has online feed also.
A great thing about our Government is they make it really easy for the public to research what the Politicians are doing and saying (on the floor anyway).
THOMAS where you can see a RECORD of what Congress is doing each day. You can also search/read a verbatim text of what each Congressmen/women or Senator has said on the floor or submitted 'for the record.' [This is where the real juicy stuff can be found.]
Also found at Thomas are Monthly Calendars for the Senate Majority and Senate Minority
And Monthly Calendars for the House Majority and Roll Call Votes can be found here.
THE WAR DEPARTMENT (aka The Dept. of Defense)
ME...too...
I love it when there are "fights" ...such that they are on the Senate floor...
BTW...fyi, on c-span 1...they are reshowing todays INTELLIGENCE HEARINGS...where Old Rocky and Levin get to be idiots...
Also .. the replay of the Senate intell committee with Porter Goss is on Cspan1 now
I'm not sure what is going now; Dodd is back up again yelling about his amendment. Grassley raises a budget point of order...here we go again.
Thought I'd post this over here about the Senate Intel Committee hearing today

Will be in session tomorrow but their will be no votes
Reid up object to something .. I didn't catch it
Reid was wanting a clarification of the schedule..I think...
I heard Frist mention Coretta Scott King's funeral...
Okay...friends...I hate to ASSume that Frist got bullied again...BUT,
Just a little while ago...he was saying that even though there would be no roll call votes (why?) tomorrow...the Senate would be in session to start debate on the Asbesto legislation...
I heard Reid get up with an inquiry...and, as posted above, the Coretta Scott King funeral was mentioned...
SOOOOOOOO..when Frist shut down the Senate a few minutes ago...and mentioned the next session would start on MONDAY afternoon....I figured that the funeral must be tomorrow, right????
Oh, no...because Frist then went on to say that the cloture vote on the Asbestos legislation would be at 6:00 PM on Tuesday..."late in the day, to accomodate those going to the Coretta Scott King funeral"!!!!
SOOOOOOOOOOOO...they just came back from CHRISTMAS RECESS this week...they are already taking TOMORROW OFF...and half of Monday...and most of TUESDAY...
OH>..and BTW...most of today was spent in a quorum call...which could mean NOTHING was getting done..and they just let these votes happen tonight without substantitive debate...SO THEY WOULDN'T HAVE TO WORK TOMORROW.
NOW...maybe, it is just me....but, I am really getting ticked at the LITTLE work that WE the citizens get to "participate" in...in our own little way, through C-span...
And, with the knee-jerk responses these guys have now days to any little thing...what will happen next to keep them from making the Patriot Act extended indefinitely???
Or...work for border control...or tax reform, or Medicare/Medicaid/Social Security reform...?????
RANT OFF
Till next week...

TUESDAY, C-SPAN, 9:30AM ET
I have come to the conclusion suicide bombers are the useful idiots for the "terrorists" as the useful idiots over here are the Democrats. I say keep them talking, the Democrats does more recruiting for the Republican party then we ever could.
bttt
Is the sound on Cspan2 broke?
nope, I'm using Realplayer and there's still no sound.
C-span 1 works OK but C2 is down/
I've got Windows...and it is fine...but, I think I may change to 1...this is boring...
