Sen. Hillary Clinton wasted no time blasting President Bush's State of the Union message Tuesday night, saying his speech made it clear that "he still wants to take us in the wrong direction."
In an email sent out by her fundraising PAC minutes after the speech ended, Mrs. Clinton took the president to task for his comments on health care.
"I can tell you from the people I have spoken to . . . that few Americans, if any, would find relief from the Bush assortment of flimsy band-aids and 'private account' gimmicks," she complained.
Clinton said Bush's policies "offer nothing but more of the same - help for those who need it the least, and everyone else is left out in the cold."
"George Bush may have had an election year conversion about the importance of health care, but as I listened to his State of the Union Speech tonight, it's clear he still wants to take us in the wrong direction," she griped.
In a separate press release picked up by JustHillary.com, Clinton blasted Bush on his energy policy, saying: "President Bush's message tonight was loud and clear: youre on your own."
"Everyone is on their own to deal with rising energy costs in the absence of a real plan by the President to meet our long term energy needs," she insisted.
Although Mrs. Clinton opposes both nuclear power and drilling in ANWR, she urged: "We need to make a real commitment to achieving energy independence and to invest in energy research and development that will help us finish the job."
I, personally, prefer the term "Mr. Dumpy Pants" or even better, "Mr. Poopy Pants".
"So, now they're going to go back and do what the President asked them to do in 2004,..."
I don't think they are going to go back and do anything about ss. They hate GWB so much they'll happily allow it to become unsolvable by waiting indefinitely to do anything about it.
These fine "champions of the little people" - who, instead of ss of course, have a separate and very generous pension protecting their future.
That still makes them look stupid.
That would mean that they inflicted social security on us and had everybody pay in all this time, and then they killed it. And they'll be screwing over the Baby Boomers (a huge voting block).
The Gen X'ers aren't planning on ss being there. The boomers were counting on it. Not to be ugly, but 30 years down the road when push comes to shove, the X'ers are gonna be the ones in political office making decisions. We're not gonna let anyone starve, but how sympathetic do you think we're gonna be when the boomer Dems REFUSED to address the problem when it was repeatedly brought to their attention. This is AFTER the Dems created the problem in the first place by bleeding ss dry by using the money the boomers put in all this time that should have been waiting for them now to pay for all of their failed social programs.
Nope....not gonna go well for Dems. Top to bottom, ss is a democrat failure and when a Republican president offered to help them fix their program, they're refusing.
Both of my kids (currently ages 8 and 6) have made comments about Hillary being "mean" or "a witch" or the like from the time they could talk.
These are simply their personal impressions of her. My wife and I do not engage in political discourse in front of the kids.
