This is a brilliant time for some other network to counterprogram the heck out of the Oscars. Usually the other channels, nets and cable go into rerun mode. If I were FOX, I would do something huge and capitalize baby!!!!
You're right. FOX would rule...
I have an idea. Schedule a whole day or two of movies that got snubbed by the Oscars. For a finale get a really big film that that got frozen out for lots of awards including "Best Picture" and run it as counter programming to the Academy Awards.
"If I were FOX, I would do something huge and capitalize baby!!!!"
Yeah, like a documentary on the declining irrelevance of Hollywood, and why the public is no longer interested in paying to support their anti-American crap.
Sounds like a a job for Jack Bauer!!!
I don't think it matters. People TIVO or rent movies with their remotes, through the mail or go to movie rental stores and find something much more decent to watch than the frikin Academy Awards.
We often TIVO and store movies and t.v. programs to watch when nothing to our liking is on A&E, the History Channel, the military channel, Court TV, Fox News, HBO, etc.
Just for the uber-sarcasm factor, I'd LOVE to see Fox do a "Best of the Worst of American Idol" special! Bring out William Hung (sp) and the others who should be shot if they ever try to sing another note. People would LOVE it!!
They should broadcast something like "Gladiator" and say
that
"tonight's feature is pudding free".
Here's all that Fox has to do...put on John Wayne in Red River, with only one 2-minute commerical break in the middle. It would likely carry at least the same audience as watching the Oscars...if not more. For ABC...the money from commericals would likely be dismal and some advertisers might ask for their money back. Fox could send a quiet message...real cowboys are preferred over breakback...and the hollywood crowd would be sitting there and scratching its head for months.
Family Guy marathon or something
