"Brokeback Mountain" and a slew of other arty, less-widely seen Oscar-nominated flicks are expected to take the polish off ABC's ratings for the Academy Awards this year.
With no big-budget films like "Titanic," "Gladiator" or "Lord of the Rings: Return of the King" in this season's crop of nominees, ABC may be staring down the barrel of one of the lowest-rated Oscar telecasts in recent memory when it airs on March 5, say TV-industry analysts.

I have never watched an oscar and never will. Can I be a part of the tuneout too...? Then again, I have never watched a football or basketball game either... Or even a Miss America...
Does this mean there is something wrong with me...?
Yes.

Aren't they having a "Life of Snails" documentary on the Discovery channel that night? Yeah, something which leaves an equally slimey trail.

Great picture. Actually, I thought old Sally said "You like me, you really like me!"
That line, and "I want to thank all the little people" are the best summations of the Oscars.

Don't forget Tom Hanks' Oscar for Philadelphia -- another gay propaganda piece of s***
This is nothing new from Hollyweird, but let the tuneout this year be huge and new and sweet.

You said, "I get a little tired of Hollywood continually patting themselves on the back. I bet even the actors themselves must hate the sight of a red carpet."
I've often said this. I'd rather see awards for firemen, policemen, teachers, etc. Actors do nothing but play pretend and every time you turn on the TV there they are marching down the carpet acting like they've saved the world. Why do we constantly have to go through all this hype over nothing?

Can I be a part of the tuneout too...? It is almost certain that I will be watching Fox News during the Oscars. If they don't mention it, I wouldn't even know it was on.
Ditto for the Super Bowl.
Does this mean there is something wrong with me...?

Yeah, like a documentary on the declining irrelevance of Hollywood, and why the public is no longer interested in paying to support their anti-American crap.

I haven't watched the Oscars or any of their other back patting rigged contests in YEARS! I refuse to waste the little carefree time that I have. Besides we don't have the same taste. I wouldn't be caught dead at a gay cowboy lust story.

Notice how the money makers like Narnia don't even make THEIR radar screen. It's the depraved that turns liberals on and wins awards.

Nothing wrong with you unless there's something wrong with me, too. I don't watch the awards shows, and I'm not fond of sporting events either.
