As soon as Kaine began, I heard the ghost of Mike Dukakis spewing the technocrat mantra when he said,
"In Virginia – and other states – we’re moving ahead by focusing on service, competent management and results."

Tells me the '08 RAT primaries are going to be the leftists vs. the technocrats. Pass the popcorn, please.

President Bush said "Congress did not pass my social security plan"

The Democrats stood up and jeered, FNC focused in on Hillary who was almost dancing waving papers (She looked like a 7 year old looking at a castle of Birthday cake)

"Congress did not act last year on my proposal to save Social Security -- (Democrat only applause)"

Democrats: Mired in a Culture of Fiscal Irresponsibility!

I am a loyal Republican and I always vote Republican and I disliked Dukakis with more passion than I can express, but Virginia is the best run State. How do we explain that? But I thought the President's speech was electrifying. I wish he could run one more time.

Every year of my presidency, we've reduced the growth of non-security discretionary spending, and last year you passed bills that cut this spending.

I did a big double-take when I heard President Bush say that. I was thinking, "Is he serious?"

I bet he bought into base-line budgeting where slower growth equals a "cut."

That's nice, but the Contract With America Congress did pass a line item veto....

He hasn't used the veto power he currently has, why should he be given an additional veto power to ignore?

Check the live thread for lots of pictures from last night. Hillary was caught on camera with her surly smirk.

After this line was given:

...because we will not sit back and wait to be hit again. (Applause.)

the camera showed Hitlery rolling her eyes and the Demoviks sitting on their hands. Are the Bolshecrats asking to be hit again?

I think this will make a nice campaign spot.

Look at the fourth chart. He's been increasing non-defense non-homeland security discretionary spending 2.8 times faster than under Clinton.

The GOP has NO clue what it means to be fiscally conservative. They're proving themselves to be far worse on the budget deficit than the dems...

"Do you have a transcript of the Governor of Virginia's response? Much better than any other Democrat's response in the past."

As he was speaking all I could think was that he was proving GWB's points. Everytime he bragged about the success of his state, and other states, I kept thinking that is the point. The Fed is allowing the states to decide on their own to be successful by reducing involvement in their affairs. Would this Governor prefer the Feds take over and ruin his success?

Then he would compain about federal funding after bragging about his successes. Is he not able to raise revunue at the state level to use in the state........

I was also pretty surprised that no National Democrat stepped forward to take the rebuttal. Kinda leads me to believe that the Dems are in more disarray than ever.

Heh, Dark, This Caine guy hasn't got his bags unpacked in Richmond, and he is raising every kind of tax he can find, after a year of saying just the opposite. And, of course, the teachers are getting their raises, all in the first week. There's a better way; there's a better way.
Perfect critique of his "blah,blah,blah,blah".

Yep. The National Dems are so darned liberal and they know it. They can't stand up against the President anymore. And you noticed that Dean was conveniently out of D.C. LOL!

That was funny. Lurch reminded me of my beagle mutt when she knows she did something wrong. All I have to do is look at her, and she cowers.
