I believe I read that Byrd is running again.

There's your answer to why he voted AYE for Alito.

This is the 2nd time I've noticed Byrd voting WITH the President since that meeting in the Rose Room. Byrd is from the old school of politics. It may be that Byrd is wanting to ride into election on the coattails of the President; maybe the President has promised help to West Virginia (they need some after the two bad mine accidents this month); or whether Byrd has become jaundiced with the Dims actions and is going back to the way it used to be are thoughts that have crossed my mind. Also, I thought when I saw Byrd leave the White House that by being included it boosted his ego enough that he is willing to play ball. If after November he goes back to his former ways, we'll know it wasn't the latter.

Joe Lieberman voted "nae" for Justice Alito, which disappointed me. Of course, he started sounding more like Al Baby during the 2000 election than himself.
