True.
He may be trying to atone or something.
Ahh...Got it! They learned their history at Animal House.
And WAYYYYY too thin.
Kind of like they both claim to be Americans...
Kerry also claimed to be Irish.
Here is my take: - I don't really have a problem at this time with the concept of "packing."
It is a poor weapon that does not point both ways.
I do, however, have a serious problem with lies - And that is what the term "packing" is, when used by the liberal trash in the Socialist 5th column called the MSM.
As you all pointed out, "packing" is adding members to SCOTUS, not nominating your picks, and further, they know that.
And that is plainly and simply a lie that insults my intelligence.
"freedom of speech" does not mean "freedom from truth."
Wished he'd have been as successful at getting the Patriot Act discussions underway before February 03. Don't know how much is truly under his control.
Every once in a while Sheets does something to make me think maybe, just maybe, he is more than a pork barrel filling, windsock tax and spend Demoncrat.
How right you are.
No.
There is nothing little about Ted Kennedy :).
I am fully aware of that. I didn't mean to imply anything!
Delusional aren't they.
I guess the poor b@st@rds have nothing left but their fantasies.
Those of us who respectfully opposed Miers can appreciate your sentiments concerning any personal attacks that you believe came from "conservatives", but the existence of those attacks, real or interpreted as such, did not outweigh the respectful criticisms of her nomination by conservatives, based on substance and not her person.
While many of us can lay claim to respect and agreement with the kind of judicial philosophy of judges like Scalia, as well as their application of that philosphy, few of us, and many "conservatives" do not have the intellectual depth and judicial experience to support the application of that philosophy on a consistent basis, as each and every case comes up. Harriet Miers, while able to voice some support for "judicial restraint" and "faithfulness to the constitution" never demonstrated in any objective sense, of the intellectual foundations for those ideas. I am sure she is a very nice and reasonbly conservative person. She was, in the view of many, proposed for a job, the task for which she was not best-qualified.
In addition, the Senate contest over a true conservative judicial intellect like Alito was of critical, national political importance. We could not afford any continued support, or even the appearance of appeasement to, the idea that an Alito could not win the appointment.
Now, we can nominate a Janice Rogers Brown, Priscella Owen or Michael Lutig for the next vacancy and there is no argument that can be made against them that did not fail against Alito. That is why Miers nomination was wrong.
Yet I trust that those two Catholics will vote according to the Constitution, and not according to their faith."
BUT IN THIS CASE THEIR FAITH IS AGAINST ABORTION ALSO......
Re your #132:
"...If the trump has been played, i.e. you know the candidate will be confirmed, you can "throw away" your vote to get some PR that you need for your reelection effort."
Bing-go!
And I opine that this is exactly what ME RINO Snowe did on the other side of the isle.
Notice that she kept her cards under the table until the final call, keeping her options open for as long as she could.
They both probably know their poker pretty well, dont'cha think?
The picture of Kennedy running... now THAT'S funny!
