Good morning, all.
Join us today for the final victory lap, the vote to "confirm Samuel Alito, of New Jersey, to be an Associate Justice of the Supreme Court."
It's all over except the final vote tally.
Lots of surprises yesterday at the HUGE vote to impose cloture, so perhaps there are still some surprise votes to come?

My guess is the vote is between 9:45am and 11:00am ET. As they say "Stay tuned".

Another campaign promise kept by President Bush. He continues to amaze with his strategery and successes. A President who has changed the world and our courts....a very significant presidency indeed.

Yes, Turbin asked for 4 additional minutes and each of the others will do the same. "Surely we can spare a few extra minutes for something as important as a supreme court nominee..."

So did they get the additional time? They should not have. That's ridiculous.

Mr. Durbin should be referred to as "Little Dick".
Vice President Cheney should be referred to as "Big Dick".
Just how much would any of us want to be "Big Dick" this morning when he pounds the gavel, calls for the vote, and then announces Alito's confirmation. I hope he looks right at Leaky Leahy when he does that!

Done. Thanks as always, Tonk.
BTW, we welcomed home our two heroes from church last month. They are brothers who each had married and left on their tour after learning they were to become fathers. Now they're getting acquainted with their new babies. Life is good.

I'm not turning off my head phones today! LOL! Should get interesting if they do! I wonder if they'll cut it off before 11.
The Republicans might cut their time short in order to keep the time line.

This will give Bush another great talking point for tonight. That is why they have been trying to delay.

If I'm wrong, somebody correct me. But bring me flowers first. @----->------->--------- A long stem rose. You are not wrong but you deserve flowers anyway.
MY fantasy for today is that in light of the venom spewed by the Dems that Alito be sworn in ON THE SENATE FLOOR immediately after the vote. :-)
