More outrage over a stupid cartoon than over rape and terrorism carried out in their name. It'll be very hard to bring free society and a free press to the Middle East indeed if a cartoon like this can drive them up the wall.

I think this is a pretty stark illustration of what's at stake. Not only do we have a culture that doesn't get freedom of speech and expression but reacts like a child or street thug over being dis'ed. That they have no problem offending Christians regularly but whine like babies when they are offended is also telling. For the record, I don't think all Muslims are this petty, nor do I think the problem is Islam, per se (I think it's a much deeper Middle Eastern culture issue), but these views do seem to be well into the mainstream in many countries and those views cannot co-exist with modern secular Western, nevermind Christian or Jewish, values.

But while part of me wants to point out that Christians have put up with crucifixes in jars of urine and worse without murdering the artists or rioting in the streets, I also find myself wondering how the artistic left would react if conservative Christians behaved more like these Muslims.

The actions by these countries just goes to show their hypocrisy. In the name of 'tolerance' they boycott an entire country simply because the Danish goverment doesn't opress their people the same way they do.

This will function as test for the Danes. Lets hope they have the courage to a)champion free speech b)resist these terrorists. C) resist pressure from the rest of the appeasers.
