Senator John Ensign was transported to the hospital this morning following a car accident.
The accident happened before 8 a.m. near Paradise and Sands. Police say the driver of a Jeep swerved into Ensign's lane hitting his vehicle head on. Ensign's vehicle was also rear ended by another car.

They defiantly don't want a vote on Alito till after the State of the Union.

Looks like the Democrats are getting really desperate. (Yes, I have my tinfoil firmly in place on this one.)

It just amazes me the short sighted views of the Dems. Once a SCJ is seated, he is there for life. Imagine if justice Alito has a little vengeance in his heart.

They should have had the vote last week when they were all there instead of having to rush everybody back for a monday vote. We should have had a vote on Alito a long time ago but Spector put off the hearings too long.

LOL, I'm not sure Gore realizes he didn't win Florida by trickery.
Gore is the epitome of a pompous numb skull.

I've been thinking that since the hearings.

True. I mean just watching this it amazes me that smart politicl people can be so dumb. Repeatly over the last 4 years to Dems every issue is the sky is falling. Again why the Dems want to set this precedent is beyond me. With a chance of getting the White HOuse in 2 plus with Stevens and maybe one more retiring (horrors if its Scalia) I wouldnt be following this tact. It doesnt look like that they will regain the Senate no matter how one does the math. Its truly puzzling to me
To: johnmecainrino
Hopefully this car accident, was just that: an "accident".
To: pepperhead
I wouldnt be suprised if they try to do something to interfer with the State of the Union. Can you imagine Bush addressingt the congress while on an competing split screen Sen Dems like Kerry and the like filibustering.
To: johnmecainrino
What? How is this disastrous?
He is still alive, and thank goodness no one was hurt too badly. And I would feel the exact same way if it was a DEM Senator.
Sheesh.
To: bayourant
They wouldn't do that. There would be hell to pay for that.

Good point.
Then Spector also gave into the Dims on the extra week to let them gain more support.
Just because Bush is savvy to the Dims doesn't rub off to make RINO Senators like Spector any brighter than an Oklahoma Panhandle fence post.

Hopefully this car accident, was just that: an "accident". You have to admit, the timing is "suspicious."

A suspicious coincidence.

Durbin is rounding up every single vote he can get.
It never helps to lose one vote when you are very close to that 60 number.
I still think there will be enough votes.
Is it asking too much for a senator to fly back the night before instead of at the last minute for such a crucial vote.
To fly back across country close to miday eastern time for an afternoon vote is leaving almost no margin for error.
To: bayourant
I been waiting someone to post on this. O am fully expecting that this might give a push to some Dem shennigans relating to the vote and the State of the Union. Already the crazies over at DU wanted some walk out tomorrow. I expect some sleazy is going on or attempting to be done relating to the Bush tomorrowYou sound like you're on a cell phone falling down the stairs.
