Target Colors, Black Betty Blackballed Sunday, January 29, 2006 By Scott Norvell
Police in Tampa, Fla. are now using colored targets on their shooting ranges because they fear the traditional black silhouettes on a white background might be sending a racist message, reports the Tampa Tribune.
Tampa police spokeswoman Laura McElroy, whose agency switched to "Smurf Blue" silhouette targets from black ones two years ago, said: "Nowadays, you can never be too sensitive."
Companies that make the targets report that the trend, which started in Florida, has spread nationwide. Blue and green targets, as well as full-color images, are less likely to be criticized as racially insensitive, they say.
Inclusion Alert
A Christian student group at a university in the UK has had its bank accounts frozen because it refused to change the language of its constitution to be more inclusive of transgendered and transsexual students, according to the Times of London.

Print stories like this should switch to white ink rather than black.

Print stories like this should switch to white ink rather than black. No, because, you see, the black ink gives the white page meaning. Without the black, the white is nothing. /race-baiting afrocentrist mode

Sounds like "Soul On Ice" by Eldrige Cleaver. Had to read it back in '69 for a literature class.

No matter what the color of your skin, your silhouette is still darker than the surroundings, right?
Isn't that what target practice is about?

Police departments must be more PC than even academia these days.
A local college had an extension office in a building I used to work in. They had a program where they'd bring in underprivileged (i.e. black) kids in and talk to them about higher education, etc..
One of the activities they provided that the kids could poke their heads through a wooden sign painted to look like new college graduate and I guess have their picture taken.
It always struck me strange that the hands on the painted sign where white....
Subliminal bias, or realistic projection? You be the judge.

Okay, everybody sing...
The ink is black
The page is white
Together we learn to read and write (unless you are in an urban public school....)
The child is black
The child is white
dum dum dum, I forget the rest
Take it...........

I suppose if I don't want to waste a bunch of targets I still have I run the risk of being arrested for racism now?
I suppose pink silhouettes are out of the question?

I've never seen any human that was actually the color black. Dark brown, but not black. All my "black" friends are brown. I know that because they have black hair and their skin is not the same color as their hair.
