Last time I checked Dell could spend it's manufacturing budget as determined by Dell's board of directors to be best for Dell's sharholders. I guess you could boycott Dell, but I happen to like inexpensive computers.

"Can't we do something about this?"

In order to do something, you have to see it as a problem. Many, if not most of the people here at FR see this as a good thing. They're business owners and they want labor as low as it can possibly be in cost.
The FR line is that Americans should retrain, or open their own business. For those incapable of starting a business, or the 50 some year old who is losing his job to India... sucks to be you.
And even though capitalism is good, and free trade is fundamentally the best option, this causes people to run to the left, the socialists. Free trade is good, but when it's unrestricted on one side, (ours), then it's not so good.
There are many here who believe that the US should be a totally service/information based economy, manufacturing little or nothing. That was tried in Spain. Didn't work out so well for them.

We can do something about this. The politicians wont because they are bribed to look the other way by campaign contributions from this day and ages robber barons. Mind you capitalism is the greatest economic system on the planet, but it can't rise above always present human greed, and exploitation.

List of companies that are outsourcing American jobs:

Can't we do something about this? Don't buy a Dell. This is the tip of the iceberg, EVERY major corporation is looking into an Indian based customer service department.

Is there truly an "American" computer company?

It is just an on-going saga of sing/song voices reading from a canned script....

...the computer customer be damned.
