LOS ANGELES RADIO STATION SQUARES-OFF WITH MUSLIM GROUP Mon Jan 30 2006 10:10:49 ET
Los Angeles's top talkradio station is under fire from a Muslim civil liberties group because of comments made earlier this month by morning man Bill Handel. The Council on American-Islamic Relations has demanded an apology from Handel for making fun of a stampede that killed hundreds of Muslims during an annual pilgrimage.
But the station and Handel are set to fire back, the DRUDGE REPORT has learned.
Handel will apologize IF the Council on American-Islamic Relations:
1) Decries all acts of terror (described specifically, not generally)
2) Agrees that Israel is a sovereign nation with the right to defensible borders
3) CAIR has no ties of any sort, financially or otherwise, to any terror orgs or individiuals.

KFI-AM does not condone making light of the deaths of people engaged in religious observances. We regret that listeners found the comments of one of our on-air hosts to be insensitive. KFI does not censor its hosts, nor does it tell them what to say or not to say. KFI is a strong and passionate believer in 1st amendment rights and that is at the very core of this radio station.

Here’s another station that has (so far) just stuck to the facts
when dealing
with CAIR and similar Islamic front groups:

Laura Ingraham, Dennis Prager, Michael Medved and Hugh Hewitt are
fair, but firm when interviewing reps from CAIR and other Islamic groups.
Especially memorable:
1. Laura Ingraham getting a CAIR lady very unhappy by noting that CAIR
waited for days to put up a denunciation of the Beslan massacre.
2. Medved getting Ibrahim Hooper of CAIR to admit that he hopes Shari'a
will eventually be the "law of the land" for the USA.
3. Hewitt stopping the spin from CAIR's Southern California rep, even though
the CAIR guy was very well-spoken.

On January 12, morning host Bill Handel said:
Handel: "And what happens every year when you have a zillion Muslims...ah, you get stampedes, as I said earlier. You get, you know, hundreds of thousands of people pouring across and all you need is one...one little word: ‘Mohammad up there is a Jew.’ (Imitates people screaming) Ahhhh! And they start screaming, right? Or, I think there's a fire here. Or...mouse on the floor, and everybody goes crazy..."
Handel: "...What they need is sort of ‘Mahmoud Nolan in the Sky’ to control all this.” (Note: Mike Nolan does the traffic report for KFI from his helicopter.)
Man with heavy accent: “This is Mahmoud Nolan. Hajj in the Sky. There is an accident...Ali lost his sandal on the on-ramp to the Martin Luther King, Jr. freeway...”
Handel: “. . .that's our annual stampede report from the Hajj, which we do every single year right here on KFI, and thank you to Mahmoud in the Sky.”
Handel also referred to Islam as a “strange religion.”

Handel was talking about how there was a stampede EVERY freakin year and how they should have traffic reports. He said --
"This is Mahmoud Nolan. Hajj in the Sky. (Pun on Mike Nolan, KFI in the Sky traffic reporter). There is an accident. ... Ali lost his sandal on the on-ramp to the Martin Luther King Jr. freeway."
Not really that offensive compared to other stuff Handel says. Don't know why CAIR jumped on this one.
A few days later he talked about how the Anaheim Mighty Ducks should rename to the Anaheim Stampeding Muslims. LOL.
Oh and as someone said before, this was on his morning show. That's his main gig, the weekend law stuff is kind of secondary.
