What no one seems to realize is that this type of polarizing attack by the Democrats has real consequences for the future for them. Even though I believe that both Roberts and Alito will be very fair and even handed on the bench, they have to feel that the Democrats are a hating, seething minority of politicians ready to attack them at a moments notice. How can the Democrats expect Roberts and Alito to give them any breaks or view them in anything but the worst light? You can't trash a person's reputation in this manner and then expect everything to be sweetness and light later.

The dems keep shooting themselves in the foot. They are rapidly becoming a party of hate.

Their rage and jealousy is palpable.

The Dems have been reduced to this level because they have nothing of substance to offer or argue. Just as they must inflict their ideologies through the judiciary, they must assault their opponents with character assassination. It is a wonderful thing to see a jurist brought aboard who will apply and interpret the Constitution as it was intended, rather than indulge the philosophical musings of those who consider it a "living, breathing document." Even better, this demonstration of acrimony in the interest of liberal ideology will only serve to strengthen the conservative voice in congress.
