That's what they said, but not what they meant.

Liarman will use the "extreme" cases to vote against Alito, even if he didn't say so.

Liarman will use the "extreme" cases to vote against Alito, even if he didn't say so.

He's already said he would vote against the nominee. As part of the gang-of-14, he has to invoke the phrase "extraordinary cirumstances" (or at least, it will be implied), if he votes against cloture.
