The Counterrevolution in Military Affairs
The Weekly Standard ^ | Ralph Peters

Posted on 01/29/2006 11:45:42 PM PST by Cannoneer No. 4

There is, in short, not a single enemy in existence or on the horizon willing to play the victim to the military we continue to build. Faced with men of iron belief wielding bombs built in sheds and basements, our revolution in military affairs appears more an indulgence than an investment. In the end, our enemies will not outfight us. We'll muster the will to do what must be done--after paying a needlessly high price in the lives of our troops and damage to our domestic infrastructure. We will not be beaten, but we may be shamed and embarrassed on a needlessly long road to victory.

Who is the target population?

I think the real target population for the jihadis is the U.S. electorate. They seek to break our will, and force us to submit. And they have almost succeeded.

What should be seen as War.....is reduced to a Movie trailer teaser with the header....conflict...or controlled conflict.

The verbage betrays who is writing the screenplay.
Ya....its the Businessman and those who supplicate at his feet.
In any talking head segment...the term *Option occurs over and over.
Its a blurr now.....as option is microwaved quickly and dished up from Washington.....or delivered from the sewer grate outside Washington Post...direct to CNN for Wolf Blitzers show.
But everyone gets option.......you hear it in Spanish from Fox,Chavez and Castro,...to French,German....Chinese Russian.....and dominating all voices.....the Muslim speak on option.

Option reeks of compromise and treacherous dealing.

We are choking on this......and reaching for our Bibles for clarity.

The Almighty declares you have a destiny.

The world answers back,

"No....we have an option"!

Gen 6: ...Then the Lord said,...."My Spirit will not contend with man forever,.....for he is mortal"

The name Noah is interesting for the subtle message which is encoded in the forward.
In the Hebrew... Noah [No'akh] means rest....but it also imparts the verb/actual - silent...to be silent after.

We should not push a folded paper with the word option written on it accross the table toward the Almighty
we probably will not like what happens next.

....And the Earth was silent.

No its not sorry but the jihads are not that sophisticated. During the Vietnam war the Vietnamese did not strike at America proper because they were targeting your home population with propaganda wanting to win your home peoples hearts and minds.

Nothing I ever have seen about the Arab or Muslim population has ever made me think that they have a strategic outlook, everything they do is for short term gain. Terror not Hearts and Minds is there creed

The target population is the population they are blowing up there own people.

They are going for Iraqis who are prepared to work with the allies. Police recruits, Markets where allied soldiers have patrolled and talked to the locals, Iraqi soldiers, and even children who accept sweets from Alliance soldiers

They hope that by using fear they would cower the population into accepting them.

This has always been the Arab way name one Arab country that does not use state repression to rule there people.

But as I stated earlier this is having a negative effect on there campaign as the people turn against them which explains the huge influx of street intelligence.

..." the suicide bombers are hopelessly ineffective, reduced to ONLY seeking to change political situations in foreign countries because they cannot affect the MILITARY situation in their own---and the media plays a role in that."

War is an aspect of politics. "An extension of politics by other means" as Clausewitz put it. War is politics using violence as a tool.

Perhaps you remember the war in Viet Nam. America lost there. The attack that knocked us out was political and here in the USA.

I fear you are wrong. Al Queda has some very bright guys, and I fear they have decided not to nuke DC, or NYC, Chicago or Atlanta.

Without massive murder of our innocents our internal politics (which include the mass media, most assuredly) will bring about our defeat. Happened in Viet Nam.

Actually the Kamikaze were extremely effective. The upper brass were intensely worried. The Fleet would have had to be within very easy range of Kamikaze attackers when Japan was invaded. Japan was trading a dozen aircraft and pilots for a United States Navy warship. Unsymmetrical warfare with a vengeance.

Nuclear weapons turned the tide.

Hi, Archy.

I read somewhere in one of the Manhattan Project histories that the production of nuclear weapons was to have been one a day by the first of the year. Teller was pushing hard for fusion weapons even in 1944. Oppenheimer and the other Reds would have been on board like crazy after the Red Army was committed. Japanese could indeed have become "a language spoken only in Hell."

The nuclear weapons program was stopped with VJ day. I suspect that our home grown Reds were not happy with the Worker's Paradise, the Dictatorship of the Proletariat, being the intended target.

To: No Longer Free State

So, Ralph Peters wants us to use more covert actions in addition to all the weaponry (such as that exemplified by Jack Bauer, Ex. Let them think they are getting secret documents, but the documents have major technology flaws or they are so complicated, they need help of U.S. to use them.)
The Islam extremists excel at establishing global lies and are not as stupid as we believed. They are getting it together with the cell phone, travel tickets, video tape. Would you have believed that could be done.
Tactics not unknown to be exemplified on our soap operas by the families. We just have to get better with the propoganda and play dirty in addition to the technology.
Glad I read the article by Ralph Peters. Didn't think I could understand all those inflated ideas, but I think I got the gist of it. People energized with belief in a God have more enthusiasm to kill people than those who are athiest or secular. So, we will see, will the
Islam extremists succeed in organizing all the countries against us?? Nahhhhhhhhh! But we have a tough row ahead of us. Maybe the Hamas in Israel will be the key. My eyes
are focused on them at this time as possible key. No way will we ever get a Utopian way of life on this earth with all the differences of opinion as to how to get a Utopia.
It has always been my belief that there is enough for
everyone on this earth, just some people want more than others.
Can't we just all learn to get along!!!!

Don't forget Quantrill and even Mosby (especially in the Valley). Sherman's March to the Sea was no different.

Halleck's General Order #100 was aimed at the Missouri situation. As I recall the order boiled down to "Don't kill them all. Use some discretion." There were a lot of Rebels shot "trying to escape." Thousands of square miles were depopulated.

The Shenandoah Valley was depopulated and almost all works of man destroyed.

"Maybe we need to be more culturally sensitive. Not in the touchy-feely Hug-a-Hadji way, but in the get-inside-their-head-get-inside-their-OODA-loop way."

Oh, yes, indeed. To destroy your enemy you must understand your enemy better than he understands you. "Understanding" does not mean hugs and kisses and singing "Kum Ba Yah".

Looks like you found Afghanistan enlightening?

The Moslems maintain that the Son of Man was not the Son of God. If they are correct then we are most wretched indeed.

If Mohammad was talking to the Archangel Gabriel then there is no salvation in the Christ. Obviously, then, Mohammad was either talking to himself, or much more likely indeed, talking to the Lord of the Flies, the Master of Lies, Satan himself.

Okay, I get it. We're all doomed.

Would have been nice if he'd offered some solutions to the problem, rather than just going on about the "genius" of the suicide bomber.
