When asked by the media for his thoughts on the Hamas triumph in the Palestinian parliamentary elections, former President Jimmy Carter replied that while they have a terrorist past, at least they're not corrupt.
One of the complaints by many in the Middle East was the corruption within the Palestinian Authority and Yasser Arafat's Fatah Party.
Arafat himself squirreled away millions of dollars from aid packages that were intended to help the Palestinian people.
However, Carter's comment appears to dismiss the years of death and destruction perpetrated by Hamas on the Jewish State.
One of the first statements made by the leaders of Hamas rebuffed demands to disarm and change its charter. Part of Hamas' charter is the total destruction of Israel and the establishment of an Islamic nation.
Israelis are in shock over this development and they wonder how they will be able to negotiate with these newly empowered Islamic Jihadists in their midst.
It's one thing to fight terrorists living in the shadows, but quite another thing to deal with them when the are legally elected officials in a sovereign nation that borders the Israeli State.
Tehran sent its congratulations to the Palestinians, the Hamas movement, all Palestinians combatants, and the great Islamic [jihad].

It's time for Jimmah to be put in a home for wayward peanut farmers whose brains have atrophied into peanuts.

At least Hamas isn't corrupt, I mean they only blow themselves up and murder civilians, that isn't so bad.
With the great prosperity Jimmy Carter lead America through, it's no wonder he's a respected American hero with an insightful view on American foreign policy.

The Godfather of Islamofascist terrorism speaks.
(Also the Godfather of stagflation, disco, bell-bottoms, gas lines, mean rabbits, weak American foreign policy, etc.)

I suppose if you have no morals, you wouldn't recognise corruption if it were staring you in the face.

Corruption is apparently the worst sin to the Left. "Batista was corrupt!" "The South Vietnamese government was corrupt!" And when the alternative is Castro and the North Vietnamese? Well, at least they aren't corrupt! They don't need to be corrupt, since they own everything including their citizens. Now, it's come down to just about open support of Hamas. Carter is a disgusting disgrace.

Can't we exile the peanut farmer to Hamastan, where he can merrily mix with terrorists and terrorist-enablers? The ancient Greeks had a sometimes valuable practice of forcing certain people into permanent exile - it would be find its best usage in the case of terrorist-enabler and leftist moron Jimmuh Carter.

That looks like the most happiest moment of Carter's destructive life. I bet he never washed his hand after that and probably has his own little picnic cloth he wears in the house.

Jimmy, we could say much the same of you, but it wouldn't be any more of a compliment to say it about you than to say it about Hamas.

An interesting side note - Netanyahu predicted Hamas being swept to power as a result of the West Bank pullout. That action was perceived as a Hamas victory and an Israeli defeat. Hamas won over the vast majority of the Palestinian because of their 'victory'. Let's hear it again for 'Land for Peace'!
The Israeli election should be very interesting with this result. I suspect Netanyahu will be the next PM.

Jimmy Carter describing the Nazis, "Sure the Nazis killed millions of people in their concentration camps, but at least they ran a well organized and effective government that dragged Germany out of its depression and gave people meaningful work."
In other news Jimmy Carter also praised China for its economic progress, dismissing China's woeful human rights record with a wave of his hand and an off hand comment about how at least China doesn't have any wasteful billionaires.
