I was on R&R when the Tet offensive started. I couldn't get back into the Viet Nam until it was over. I spent an extra two days on R&R. When I got back, my buddies told me only once that I missed some action. I couldn't tell that there had been any fight whatsoever in the local countryside. It wasn't until I got back home that I found out about this great battle in the newspapers. I was never impressed with paper news anyways.

I had been out about 6 months when the Tet Offensive took place and I remember every night on the news hearing Walter ("The most trusted man in America") Cronkite rave on about how we were getting our a$$e$ handed to us.

He and Jane Fonda were carrying water for the communists from day one.
