State officials need to quit bellyaching about Mississippi getting more flood relief than Louisiana and about President Bush rejecting a $30 billion homeowner-bailout plan. Their time would be better spent laying the groundwork for spending the $6.2 billion in hurricane relief we have already received.
With this states checkered political background, can you blame anyone for doubting our ability to handle billions of dollars in federal funds?
Kennedy suggested the state set up a home buyout program on the state level and demonstrate to Washington that the idea will work. He said he hasnt heard back from the governor.
