It would be interesting to see if race/ethnicity skews these numbers.
BREAKING NEWS: NAMBLA PROTESTS NEWSWEEK.
Only the 70s?
Still, I have asked myself the same question and wondered why others seemed not to ask it.
Anyone remember the feminist complaint about the supposed preferential treatment paid to the boys as an explanation why girls underachieved?
Professions are turning into trades...particularly where part-time females (soccer moms) are willing to accept less comp and work 20-30 hours a week. The majority of positions in publishing, real estate, banking, and insurance are filled by females. The majority of all law students are now female...within 5 years, they'll be the majority of practicing lawyers.
Penis envy run amok. Biologically males have larger brains than females. It's not fair! Leftism requires that females be given more education resources and males less to level the playing field.
My son is in the top 1% on standardized tests thanks to Christian Schools and sports. No feminization for him!!

It would be interesting. However, my money is that this snippet from the article is the most revealing:
One of the most reliable predictors of whether a boy will succeed or fail in high school rests on a single question: does he have a man in his life to look up to?
I teach at a large public high school. The boys I see are in a lot of trouble. There's been a ghettoization of middle class WHITE male culture. Their heros are often convicts. They want to be tough and feared. They are often uninterested in education. They see school as a place to get girls and get into trouble.
I notice most of these boys don't have fathers at home. Mom often has a boyfriend and he's the only role model they have.
Not to be crude, but I have seen a massive "vaginaization" agenda in public schools, starting now at kindergarten levels. There are almost no male school teachers or administrators anymore.
Current stats show that 80% of all kids in grade school prescribed ritilin are boys.
The emphasis is for girls to excel, and boys are supposed to just shutup and behave like robots.
All masculine qualities or male oriented behavior are to be supressed. If boys act like boys, parents are called and told the kid needs to see a psychologist.
Yep, the myth of female superiority is alive and well, and 95% of American men don't have the brass to say a word about it.
Yeah but the girls can't be all that far behind being "ghettoized". After all, their role model is the slutty mom with a new "boyfriend" every other month.
Read Christine Hoff Sommers book "The War on Boys" which was written about 5 years ago. It was tremendously useful and way, way ahead of the curve that the MSM is just starting to see. The feminist movement has been mostly successful only in organizing those women who hate men.
later read.
A great book that should be required reading for every parent who has a son.
Another discussion from a few days ago, here:

It was the absense of Ritalin and the relative scarcity of special ed before the 80s. Now, being an active boy (or girl) causes teachers to refer kids for Ritalin and special ed classes starting in kindergarten.
Since the 70s and IDEA legislation, more money and thus more kids (usually boys) have been targeted with psychological services in schools and put in special ed classes, which ensure that they never achieve.
Those boys (and girls) who were usually more intelligent and more intolerant of pedagogical BS had to be dealt with in the regular classes. Now, they shuttle these kids off to the side and medicate them into compliant, brain-impaired kids.
You left out the odd way boys pay back their mother for the dad not being there. In the process they damage their own future. Since that starts early, they aren't even aware or whats going on any more.
