"Danger to agents will continue to increase until those areas are secure," Aguilar said.

Mexican and U.S. officials at the highest levels of government are dealing with the Hudspeth incident, Aguilar said. In Laredo, the Border Patrol reported shootings across the river on Sunday and Thursday, but the agents involved were not certain if they were being shot at.

Ah, the Mexican government is dealing with this so we can all rest easy tonight. Next the BP will be telling us the bad guys (who Fox assures us weren't Mexican military) were merely out gofer hunting.

"Absolutely we are in much better shape than prior to Sept. 11," Aguilar said.

He can say that with a straight face with all that's been happening lately? Obviously, Fox has his hand up this guys' backside.

Change a few words in this story and one would think it was about the Syrian-Iraq border.

Border Patrol and other law enforcement encountered smugglers with military-style equipment Monday in Hudspeth County.

We already have a solution for that.

As more agents get assigned to the border, the Border Patrol is taking control of areas that have been historically used by criminal gangs who are reluctant to give them up, Aguilar said.

I hope these new BP agents dress for success with fully-automatic weapons and body armor.

"Although smugglers are using heavy military equipment, it should never get to the point where the Border Patrol has to take on similar equipment, Aguilar said."

That's as stupid as going to a gun fight with a knife.

This guy is either stupid or kissing Bush's back side.

Paging President Bush, Sec, Chertoff, US Senators and Governors!

They won't help. They have their blinders on and their earplugs in, per orders from their handlers.

Just when it seemed like it couldn't get any worse than having to secure our borders, kick out the invaders already here, and fine and jail those who hire and/or abet them, now this.

If something isn't done very, very soon, it's actually going to be necessary to invade Mexico in order to protect US sovereignty??!

This is really getting to be like the over-extended Roman Empire situation.

I'll bet if we discovered heavily armed and uniformed North Korean troops 200 meters this side of the Korean DMZ who then threatened us with their weapons we wouldn't hesitate to shoot first and ask questions later...

Shame on Pres. Bush for sending BP agents into this war zone with side arms when the Mexican army has .50 caliber machine guns mounted on Humvees. That is inexcusable. The personnel from Ft. Hood that are returning from Iraq should be stationed on our own border to secure it and should be equipped with the appropriate weapons of war.

So, am I reading this right? There have historically been area used by gangs and criminals to gain illegal entry with who-knows-what kind of payload...and the Gub'Mint is just NOW getting around to partolling/retaking these areas? And Jerkoff Chertoff and Jorge Arbusto are downplaying the Mexican Gub'Mint's OBVIOUS and EXPOSED complicity in these smuggling ops?

And yet, we keep hearing of how these poor illegals need to be given shamnesty (I'm not letting the OBL-ers control that aspect anymore...it is what it is, Shamnesty!), and we can't build a fence/wall?

It is long past time that our "leaders" be thrown out for their intransigence and corruption in the matter of the open Border!

"Ahead Sell-Out Factor 10, Mr. Chertoff!"

This Aguilar asswipe should go on patrol with the border patrol armed with only a 38 snub nose. If he lives, maybe he'll see the error of his ways.

Aguilar. That sounds like a hispanic surname to me. I wonder where his loyalties actually lie. From this article and from previous articles I am beginning to have my doubts. Would we have let someone named Yokamura in charge of security when we were in fear of being invaded during WWII?

We are a nation at war and our President can't even attempt to secure the border. What a jackass.

Time for the State Governors of TX, AZ, NM and CA to call out the Militia for protecting the STATE borders.

If the damned Feds won't do it, by god SOMEONE has to.

He is right. There are Guard units who already have the equipment and real world experience putting it to good use.
