I would not be surprised if this were a set up.

They were traveling with Iraqi security forces.

Iraqi security forces are one of the biggest targets of the insurgency (and my hat's off to those Iraqis who do join their National Guard or police, because they join knowing that they and their families are one of the biggest targets).

If it weren't for the fact that most journalists are hiding out in the Green Zone or whatever, you would have this happen a lot (3rd-party journalists getting injured), because Iraqi and American convoys are attacked every single day, somewhere in the country.

What was stupid and naive? That an American News corporation was gathering news for American consumption?

Who is paying their medical bill?

The contract for treatment was in place before they were imbedded. Either ABC or the insurance company will pay for it. Down to every ml of fluid, and the last APC.

You could have said that to begin with. Now get lost.

Before we get too far down this road, what was their marketing ploy?

The ploy or campaign was that the anchors were not anchored -- I think they even used that phrase in the commercials.

Surely not to get them injured?

No. And if that is what you thought, you are very strange. Perhaps your conspiracy ideas are true and the producers are very depraved and did have this in mind. I implied nothing about that and it is your idea, not mine.

The point was look what happened to this fellow in large part due to the whims of the producers and marketers. There's no reason an anchor has to be near danger or the like.

Stupid?

You don't know my good, longtime friend, Leadpenny.

He isn't stupid, far from it.

I am going to go out on a limb and guess that your comment didn't imply that Woodruff was in Iraq and was intentionally hit with and IED as a result of a Marketing Ploy.

ABC's marketing gimmick was designed to send Woodruff to Iraq at the last minute to bash our President's SOTU speech on Tuesday.

It was. However, that doesn't mean we should act like the DU and celebrate.

Don't people here often complain about stories that highlight troop tragedies? I agree with you, btw, but the place the go to hear about military casualties are liberal sites like Juan Cole (ick!).

Do you then think that all the reporters who were imbeds from the beginning of this war shouldn't have been allowed in country to begin with?

I am not the one implying his being there and/or being injured was some sort of "Marketing ploy" or campaign or conspiracy.

I never implied that at all.

There is something wrong with you to think that. Mainly ignorance and stupidity.

There's a difference between celebration and dissemination on information that ABC's motives for Woodruff's last minute trip to Iraq for the SOTU were not in our country's best interest.

This really is a very serious question here.

Did you know that there have been reporters on the gound in Iraq since the beginning ???

How is this one considered a Marketing ploy?

I troubled there could even be a self respecting Republican that would even be amazed with no sympathy for a member of the demagogic, fear-mongering, treasonous and useless idiot MSM.

My point exactly, We have had over 17,000 soldiers wounded and this guy and his croney get more ink than a deserving solider. I don't want to pay for their injuries. I will gladly pay for our hero's.
