Mark Steyn: At least Hamas is open about its evil intentions
http://www.suntimes.com/output/steyn/cst-edt-steyn29.html ^ | Mark Steyn

was at a county fair in New Hampshire last summer and stopped by the National Guard tent. They had those "Support Our Troops" ribbon stickers for sale -- one on a Stars-and-Stripes background, one of them just plain yellow. I've never liked the whole yellow-ribbon thing: It's too victimological, too passive, too enervated. One of the distinctive features of that immediate post-9/11 moment of near national unity was the blessed absence of yellow ribbons. It would have been the wrong symbol for an America full of righteous anger.

But four years on, and there are "Support Our Troops" yellow ribbons a-plenty. "What's the idea behind that?" I asked the National Guardsman manning the display.

"Well," he said, "a lot of people don't support the war and they aren't comfortable with the flag-colored ribbon but they support the troops."

Only a few months ago Mark "one vote, one gloat" Steyn was waxing excitedly about how elections in Arab would liberalize the Middle East. Now....the new party line seems to be that extremist victories are "good".

You're eager to bite Steyn, but your attack is totally unsuccessful.

Did you expect Steyn to include all the factors following from the Hamas victory into a single article?

And shouldn't you think for yourself, at least from time to time, if you're interested in the subject?

Try this: the Hamas gangsters now will try to take over the racket in the PA which belonged to the PLO (Fatah and Al-Acsa) ones. The latter won't easily agree to hand over all the dough, and in any case it is not on the "government's" books, but in the private Swiss accounts of the ringleaders.

Do you remember for how long they were keeping already dead as a log and fastly rotting Arab-Fart on the ventilator while they were trying to persuade his widow to part with at least some of the magical numbers?

Same will happen now, but in the meanwhile the too mobs will shoot at each other... they already do.

Is it good?

Yes, it is.

Would it happen if the old mob managed to fake an election victory again?

No, it wouldn't.

And it also liberates Israel from the sad necessity to fake some 'peace negotiations' with the Palis...

Think yourself, it's a useful exersize - you can find more good things following this election.

Take my advice and try not to be standing too near the Hamas activist when he activates himself.

Yup.

Apologies if I have offended. Yellow does have that other connotation, and the song about the ribbons is a convict coming home after he's done his time - themes hardly befitting the brave soldier.

<< If there's any doubt that Hamas will use its mandate to exercise the will of the Palestinian people ... >>

None to be found hereabouts. None whatsoever.

The Egyptian, Syrian, Lebanese and Trans-Jordanian and various other psychopathic Arab islamanazis, their fellow-travellers and useful morons who call themselves "palestinians" are personified in the patently psychotic, Mariam Farahat.

Failure to recognise that simple truth and/or any pretense that the barbaric culture she so perfectly represents is ready to take its place in the Family of Man would first sign, seal, deliver and execute the Nation of Israel's death warrant.

Which catastrophe would then, second, set in motion the seeing off of all of the rest of us.

As goes the Nation of Israel, so goes Judeo-Christian/Western/Human Civilization.

I pray our apparently hapless administration, our usually hapless feral gummint bureacracy and especially our ALWAYS hapless Department of State - all get that.

- According to the bio on Mark's web site, he was originally baptized a Roman Catholic but now attends a Baptist Church.

Ignoring here Buchanan's usual ant Israeli screeds (someone should tell him Sharon is out of the equation) and Clift's reflex Leftist idiocy, you've got to see McLaughlin put up pictures of one after another after another of Hamas's leaders, portray them as educated people, and call them all- except one- "moderates".

Between McL blustering and Clift and Buchanan (who is NOT A CONSERVATIVE!), in the interest of my health I had to give up on the M-Group.

Many first-rate terror organizations have managed to convert themselves to third-rate national-liberation governments.

In Steyn's hands, sarcasm rises to the level of true art.
