No mention of integrity and doing what he thinks is "right"..
If he TRULY feels that Alito is that bad...and there is an attempt by HIS PARTY to stop his confirmation, then he should join them...because it is his belief that Alito should be stopped from being confirmed...
NOT...because it will fail, or it is politically expedient to not try the filibuster.

Damn, Democrats are stupid. Their are basing their political calculation on their belief that should Bush be afforded the opportunity to replace Buzzy or Stevens, he will select a Janice Rogers Brown. In the Dems eyes there is no down side to filibustering any African-American who has "forgotten their roots" and other rot. The AA voting block is still monolithic in their voting habits and will not be swayed by the filibuster of someone they don't consider one of their own anyway.
News flash. The next nominee will be at least Hispanic if not female Hispanic. The Hispanic block is the fastest growing demographic in the US. They will soon hold the swing vote in major Southwest states as well as California and Florida (if not already) and are much more likely as a voting block to be offended by any Democrat attempts to keep a Hispanic off the Supreme Court. http://www.boston.com/news/nation/washington/articles/2005/09/05/rehnquist_death_puts_pressure_on_bush?mode=PF

I've said it before, and I'll say it again: Obama's a total lightweight who needs his handlers to determine which breakfast cereal he likes best. Of course, he's more heavyweighted than his senior Senator from the same state, but Obama looks good on TV and has a reasonable-sounding demeanor.
He'll happily keep getting elected until somebody whispers in his ear that he ought to run for President. And then it will be John Kerry all over again.
