Good posting.
John Shadegg is the best man for the job, as he represents a break from the discredited way things are currently done. Roy Blunt is same cart, new driver. Boehner is not hugely different from Blunt, but would represent a slight improvement.

The date should be January 25, 2006.
Not the 28th as I incorrectly posted.

I would prefer Shadegg in principle.
Boehner would be more practical because of his better coordination skills in getting agenda worked on and passed.
Blunt will spend like an idiot. He is out of control.
He needs 117 votes on the first ballot.
Tally so far of commitments.
Blunt - 100 Votes
Boehner - 48 Votes
Shadegg - 13 Votes
Undecided - I think 67 Votes.
If Blunt loses on first ballot

If Blunt loses on first ballot, he will not be majority leader.

It's important that conservatives around the country let Congressional Republicans know their views on this important contest.

So it's important that Blunt not win on the first ballot. The blogging community has proven itself a force already, so here's a chance for it to make a major impact.

I'd write to my congressman, but I'm sure he's already committed. BTW, my congressman is Shadegg a really great guy and honest as the day is long.

I heard John Fund say that it would be such a huge defeat for Blunt to lose on first ballot, that he could not recover.
It looks like Blunt is hiding while Boehner and Shadegg are making the rounds.
I think Boehner will win and Shadegg will position himself nicely for future leadership roles.

I confess I don't know any of the candidates well, but after reading this I am not impressed by Blunt. The last thing we need in the leadership position is yet another operator with no convictions and no spine.
Lack of leadership in the House and Senate is killing the party. I'm sick and tired of wimps who seem to be incapable of keeping the RINOs in line or fighting the Democrat minority.

We must defeat Blunt on the first ballot.
If you consider overspending a problem, Blunt has to fail to gain 117 votes on first ballot.
He has 100 committed. There are 67 undecided. Let's push them all to Boehner or Shadegg.
I have not found a list.
I heard these numbers from John Fund on yesterday's John Batchelor Radio Program.

Shadegg is your congresscritter, huh??
When you have contacted in the past for other reasons...how is he in responding to you?
How is his voting record? He wasn't in the group of GOP representatives that went against the majority on ANWR or the budget reduction act, was he??

I'm from Missouri (not Blunt's district) and I'm not impressed with Roy Blunt. IMO, he has "grown" (as the Dems say) since he first arrived in Washington, DC, and he is not the man to lead; he has become too much of an inside-the-beltway-Republican.
Just my opinion....

Is Rep. John Shadegg (R-Ariz.) a Senator/CAPT John S. McCain III USN (Ret) man? That will affect my opinion of him.
To: Txsleuth
Shadegg has a 98% Lifetime Rating from the ACU
Boehner has a 94% Lifetime Rating from the ACU
Blunt has a 94% Lifetime Rating from the ACU
All three voted for the Budget Reduction Acts I believe.

Thank you...
If I had my way...Mike Pence would be majority leader...but, I don't see him on the list...
The fact that this is a secret ballot also makes me wonder if anything we tell our congresscritters will matter...we will never know for sure how they vote.

Nope. He has to get along with him, but other than the fact that they both come from Arizona there is nothing much in common. The guy is a true blue conservative, especially when it comes to spending.

Oh yeah, BTW, he's the kind of congressman you write to and he actually writes back. If he's home, you can call him or drop by his office and he'll always make time to talk to you whether he knows you or not.
