I'm not disagreeing with you. I just take offense with this notion that it is ok for developers to come into a small community and do whatever the hell they want, because it is the "American way."

I agree. That's why I am a strong supporter of the type of LOCAL zoning laws that they have in places like Santa Fe or Carmel, that allow smaller cities and towns to maintain their charm.

Not all of us want to live in a sprawling hellhole like Houston. The key is smart local zoning laws.
