WASHINGTON -- Sen. Hillary Rodham Clinton on Friday announced she'll join potential 2008 presidential rival John Kerry in voting to filibuster against Supreme Court nominee Samuel Alito, just as top Democratic leaders predicted the effort is likely doomed.
With three Democratic senators pledging support for Alito, the New Jersey conservative seems virtually assured of being confirmed by the full Senate Monday or Tuesday, party leaders predicted Friday. Senate Minority Leader Harry Reid (D-Nev.) told reporters in Washington that "everyone knows" Senate Democrats couldn't muster the 40 votes needed to support a last-ditch filibuster.

Why Bush?
ROFL!!!
I have sworn I'd never vote for McCain.
I'll tell one big story about Reagan's funeral: after we saw all the people in town for the funeral and saw part of the funeral procession go by, we tried to explain to them what was going on, because it was really a big deal.
Later that night, after they had flown Reagan back to California for burial, we were watching it on TV in the hotel room. All of a sudden the oldest one, 3 then, sits up and points and says, "Hey, that's the same flag George Bush has in his office."
So I said, "Sure, it's the American flag; it's everywhere." And he looks at me like I'm really dumb and says, "No, Mimi, the other one -- the yellow one."
He was talking the presidential flag! Three years old! He had seen the flag in the Oval Office and remember it.
The boy's a genius. :-)
Pass the fire water Willie.
Yes. Why do they hate him so much.
And now I am not making that up!
Even worse, when we went out onto the portico to see the Rose Garden, the youngest one wrench loose from my hand and ran into the MIDDLE of the Rose Garden. My stepdaughter thought a sniper was going to pick him off before I could get him back. :-)
They have one foot off the cliff, and with Kennedy's ample m-ass behind them, and with Kerry blowing hard (blowhard), they should drop into the pit of irrelevancy rather quickly, if not clumsily. ;)
ROFLMAO!!!!!! I hope you're keeping a diary of your adventures with your grandbabies! Years from now it will be your words that will remind them of the things they may not remember. Of course, your stepdaughter may have nightmares about snipers for years to come without a written documentary..... LOL
All today, it seems.
No way. Every empty seat would be an advertisement for their stupidity.
And do you think George Bush would give one rip if they showed their butts to the entire world?
You are so fortunate to be able to take your grandkiddies to the White House and such...and it seems that they enjoy it also..
As far as why Bush? I don't have any idea...and the other things we have talked about...I have had times that I just get so fearful for my granddaughter's futures..
And, the closer it gets to Bush leaving office, the worse it gets...
I am gonna hit the bed now...but, I am sure we can pick this back up this weekend.
I have had a really wonderful time freeping with you tonight!
Good night.
Definitely a smart little fellow! I've been reading the whole thread, and with the grandchildren topic, I have to add that my husband and I are awaiting our first grandchild..due Feb. 5th..any time now!
I am fortunate to have two family members that work in D.C., one in the White House and one in the Senate.
I had to take advantage of it now because it won't ever happen again!
It's been fun, but I have surely blabbed for far too long!
Welcome to the world of the Stupid People, grandparents.....LOL.
Just be careful not to look the baby directly in the eyes; if you do, they suck your brains out and you are never the same again. :-)
"And do you think George Bush would give one rip if they showed their butts to the entire world?"
That's one reason why they hate him.
He's a man guided by his faith, possesses moral clarity, and speaks to the hearts and minds of a majority of Americans. President Bush believes in the very foundation that has kept this country together for the last 200+ years.
Thanks, I knew I was in with everything I bought for the baby shower! Can't wait!
