WASHINGTON -- Sen. Hillary Rodham Clinton on Friday announced she'll join potential 2008 presidential rival John Kerry in voting to filibuster against Supreme Court nominee Samuel Alito, just as top Democratic leaders predicted the effort is likely doomed.
With three Democratic senators pledging support for Alito, the New Jersey conservative seems virtually assured of being confirmed by the full Senate Monday or Tuesday, party leaders predicted Friday. Senate Minority Leader Harry Reid (D-Nev.) told reporters in Washington that "everyone knows" Senate Democrats couldn't muster the 40 votes needed to support a last-ditch filibuster.

Same thing last night on Scarboriugh (yes, TX I actually turned him on for about 5 seconds last night). Rush gave it to her pretty good and pretty accurately today (I thought).
Yes, Enron grew in the 90s, in fact a senior VP where I worked back then used Enron as a good example of being proactive !
but it was that "all you Honkys" s**t ,
... cloaked in Afro-centric spiritual superiority,
... "we know you Crackers are evil and can't help it"
Because what did they really prosecute during the Clinton Administration? Certainly not Waco, OKC, TWA-800, China being given all our defense secrets for a night in the Lincoln Bedroom...
They were showing the scenes of the violence in Israel today...when Fatah and Hamas were fighting...
and the reporter that was doing the voiceover was saying that the Fatah members were fighting because they lost the election and their power...
And I was thinking...that as bad as the dems are...at least in our country the parties DO NOT (at least up until now) riot and create chaos and havoc when they lose...
Or perhaps, "Ignorance is THIS" pasted to the Dem party logo.
I found it curious... they do have a lot of kids to be downsizing? and certainly she isn't going to run the family business from Sedona.
Gosh, I missed that -- must have been when my DH called and I had to hit mute for a minute.
I suppose, Howlin, it's a convergence of things. I have read most of David Horowitz's books and see the 60s play-book all over. And where are those 60's children if not in control of the traditional media where the nuts find great sympathy for their agenda. Then add cable news, the internet and so called alternative media that seems to give instant credibility to margins that once at least had to earn some kind of critical mass before being featured as respected opinions.
I also understand what you are saying about Clinton, and in terms of politics I agree. But we can't forget how many rungs of the ladder this country descended when it comes to respect and honor of the office and our institutions. From Begala and Carville (have you ever heard them give a thoughtful speech as Rove has done) who sold Clinton with the same approach one sells fast food, to the goons he sent out to defend him during the impeachment, to Stephanopolous who had all of the sense of the gravity of his position as a teenager.
Sorry for the long rant...I am just as troubled as you are by all of this.
They still think everything can be handled by talking... did you hear Bob Beckel last night at the end of H&C tell Sean he thinks we should bomb Iran, and soon... Sean almost fell out of his chair, recovered and said 'are you serious' to which Bob said he sure was that this is too serious to screw around with the UN...
Well, I'm going to head to bed... I hope CNN is right and we have 70 for Cloture -- the weekend is going to be mighty long and a lot can happen in 72 hours.
I saw that...but, also saw when Ann Coulter warned him that if we do go into Iran and find no nukes....he better not act like he and the other libs have been acting re: Iraq...
What Beckel was saying tonight re: Iran...was the same thing they and everyone was saying about Iraq before we went there, also...
Give them a chance -- if 'we' win in '08 what we saw today...
#61 Great post, the last line gave me goosebumps, and it's scary because I believe it's true..
Goodnight....yeppers...the news might not be as boring as it usually is on weekends...
Plus the Sunday shows should be full of fireworks...
Have a good night...see ya.
I WILL never vote for McCain.......
He's not a bit better than Kerry, imho.
Yep; he surely was subdued while he was parroting the talking points, wasn't he? There wasn't much fight in him.
I know selective memory...
Night... will try to get up and dressed in time to join the Sunday threads this week.
