Bush says 2008 race wide open, Clinton 'formidable'

WASHINGTON (Reuters) - President George W. Bush said on Friday the race for the White House in 2008 was wide open and called potential Democratic candidate Hillary Rodham Clinton "formidable."

"This is an unusual year because this is the first time there hasn't been a kind of natural successor in the party," Bush said in an interview with CBS News. His vice president, Dick Cheney, has ruled out a run for the top job.

Told that Clinton, a former first lady and current New York senator, seemed to be running pretty hard for the Democratic nomination, Bush replied, "She's formidable."

The president said it was "hard to tell" who the leading Republican candidates might be.

"The minute I start speculating, you'd make all kinds of news with it, and it would interject me in the race. ... Two wide-open primaries with no sitting vice president running in either primary, so this is -- I can't remember a time when it's been this open."

Bush said the presidency had not changed his priorities and he highly recommended the job.

"I will tell you, if given a chance to do it again, I would have said, 'You bet.' It's been a fantastic experience."

His biggest disappointment?

"The bitterness in Washington, D.C. ... the tone in Washington."

"So Bush says the witch is formidable?"

He was misquoted.

He said she was Formicable - cheap, plastic, vulgar and easily flattened and laid...

Now, listen: I happened over to DU the other night after everybody on the live thread was going on and on about it.

I first read about it on DU too. Their paronia knows no bounds.

During the 2004 campaign Cher told an audience that homosexuals would be rounded up and put in concentration camps if President Bush were reelected. I think she said this in Miami but it was insane then...insane now...and always will be insane but whatever keeps the dims up at night is fine by me.

I know I shouldn't have looked, but I had to. Do those freaks really have licenses to pilot aircraft? Please tell me they're just a bunch of pilot wanna-be's hanging around an airline terminal water cooler! Please! ;)

Some people there are pilots but for the most part, the people in the Non-Aviation forum are either kids, airline employees but not pilots, or "arm chair airline CEO's" as we call them. A few of us, such as myself, just like aviation but don't work in the industry. The pilots tend to be on other parts of the forum where political discussions aren't allowed.

I'd say at least 1/2 the forum are U.S. hating Euros (only two Euros there do not hate the U.S. and George Bush) and probably 95% of the rest are also members of sites like DU. We also have a huge number of homosexuals and we know what their politics usually are. Only a few people there are really conservative, most that aren't far left are RINOs and of course we have one LewRockwell kook who thinks that "Bush is Hitler" and all the other tripe that LewCrockwell spews so he is no better than the other lefties.

Oh, well, "Bush is Hitler" is a given, isn't it? ROFLMAO! Thanks for clearing that up. I admire anyone that can spend any time behind enemy lines...and live to tell about it. :)

It used to be worse. We actually had three members praise bin Laden, support the Sept. 11th attacks, and hoped that the U.S. and Israel would be destroyed with nukes.

Thankfully, all are gone. One simply disappeared and doesn't post anymore, another deleted his account, and the third is now serving life in prison in Scotland for molesting a child.
