DAVOS - UN nuclear chief Mohamed ElBaradei on Friday called on the United States to provide Iran with nuclear reactors, and urged Tehran to declare a moratorium on enriching uranium for at least eight years.
He said eight or nine years would enable the country to earn the confidence of the international community that it was really interested in nuclear energy - not nuclear weapons.

Yes we are, a race to avoid barbarians EXTERMINATING a entire race of people. I would however; like to thank El Baradei for admiting the u.n. is powerless to control, police or adjudicate in this matter. Now we can take care of it and quit dancing around diplomatic channels, we can take out their nuclear facilities.
I think it might also be a interesting exercise to freeze El Baradei's assets and see just where the money came from to propose this daring plan of his, as always............follow the money.
LOL, I'm sure that would get in the way of Kofi & Son's business dealings. Wouldn't want to upset them.
The UN is a non-governmental organization, an NGO. Nothing they say has any necessary bearing on reality. UNESCO a few decades ago attempted to put all history on a computer. Sounded like a good idea at the time, like an attempt to put earth's climate on computer. Those employed by the UN are actually working for NGOs within the big NGO, and all completely independent of each other. There is no reason to listen to what any of these employees has to say any more than the guy on the next barstool.
Notice that he was in Davos with Kerry and Clinton when he decided to drop this little turd in the punch bowl.
"We are running in a race against time," he said
(yeah! The yankee infidels are almost on to us and Iran might not be able to finish their bomb!)
Somewhere in this convoluted reasoning there is an appeal to being "fair".
There is an approaching gunfight in which the opponent is as yet armed only with a knife, and the protagonist is supposed to toss him a loaded gun....
I cannot see a good outcome in any of these proposals.
In a perfect world, the choice of an oil-producing country to convert their national energy sources from petroleum-based to nuclear-based would translate to having more energy to export, and on balance, for the world this would be a good thing. Maximizes the amount of product for sale, while not eating their own seed corn.
But bearded men with burning eyes are running Iran today, and anything they lay their hands upon is being used as a weapon, be it economic, or cultural, or just the physical means of damage on a massive scale.
These will be "fast" reactors...actually classed as "extremely fast" reactors, of our own design.
Thanks for the suggestion, El Boy. Always happy to further the aims of the UN...!
Where is the "ARE YOU F'ING KIDDING ME" in the title ?
Uranium power plants are a great invention and should be in use worldwide, especially in China and India where the coal smoke sometimes gets bad. Especially China. Of course, oil sales would be much less, and coal even less than that. Iran would have a hard time getting by on carpet sales.
I got a better Idea. Lets just send the fuel in nice 20 kg bundles by ICBM.
Although comparing the Angry Ayatollahs to the average 2 year old is an insult to most 2 year olds.
Sounds close enough for UN work.
That worked really well with North Korea (not).
ONLY BOMBS will save us.
Nothing else.
