Congressman Fossella said: “Judge Alito has dedicated much of his professional life to serving our nation as both a U.S. Attorney and now a judge. It seems that some of Judge Alito’s political opponents believe his heritage should be used to disqualify him from serving our nation on the Supreme Court. They have seemingly questioned Judge Alito’s competence to sit on the Supreme Court because he is Italian-American. Anti-Italian stereotypes and slurs have no place in the confirmation process of a Supreme Court justice. Judge Alito’s integrity, character and ability to serve on the Court is what should be considered by the Senate.”

Wow, right on target.
