I've seen this guy fight and he doesn't have much in the way of boxing skill. I'm still glad they gave it to him over that annoying clod Ruiz. Valuev is ugly though. Could have a long career playing James Bond villains.
Ruiz is a real journeyman and no great shakes. Despite this, Valuev only just shaded the decision and couldn't put Ruiz away.
David Tua ironed out Ruiz in one round.
Valuev is made to order for a Tua/Tyson type of fighter.
Size is not an automatic advantage in the boxing ring. I remember when Too Tall Jones turned boxer with his sights on the heavyweight championship after he retired from football.
Too Tall won all six of his fights (against tomato cans), but he didn't have the skills to fight the top ranked fighters.
And we can't forget Butterbean!
Maybe we need a new category ... Heavy Heavyweight.
