Hey, FReepers, wanna have some fun? The DUmmies have posted a link to a site sponsored by People for the American way, to submit FREE faxes to multiple Senators, urging them to filibuster the Alito confirmation. I took advantage of it -- only I changed the subject from "Filibuster Alito" to "DO NOT Filibuster Alito!!", and I deleted their canned message and replaced it with one of my own.
FREE fax, on them!

This is a win/win situation. Either Alito is confirmed or we get to see the nuclear option.
BTW, everyone:
For your further enjoyment, check out the meltdown over the Alito nomination on tonight's edition of the DUmmie Funnies:

I don't think they have the votes, either, but I sure enjoy having fun at their expense.
I sent:
"Filibuster Alito or I'll eat you!!!!
Sincerely,
Michael Moore"
Oh, if only this were the thirties1 What a wonderfully comic movie they would have made of this vision!
I Believe that this thread is a duplicate post.
I believe that I screwed up, and that the other one is the duplicate.
LOL!
I wouldn't do this.
ROTFLMAO, and I just thought mine was cute.

OK, as a fairly new FReeper (about one year), I will certainly listen to a FReeper veteran. Why not?
bump
Done.
Samuel Alitos record is clear, and there is no threat posed by his nomination:
The filibuster is not a tool to be used trivially. Alito is not a threat. Stand up for your Senate, stand up for the Constitution, and stand up for we, the people. I ask you NOT to filibuster Samuel Alitos nomination to the United States Supreme Court.
My apologies - - I leapt before I looked.
I thought the recommendation was to fax GOP Senators, but obviously the recommendation was to fax the rats. Sounds like a good idea to me.
Regards,
LH
Hee hee. I hope the fax goes through.
I put "Confirm Alito" as the subject line, then wrote:
Samuel Alitos record is clear (he is a competent, thoughtful jurist), and so is the threat posed by his nomination: The Democrats will continue to feel powerless and impotent. But will flexing the filibuster muscle actually show that the Dems have a spine? Or will it confirm for most Americans that the Dems are hopeless obstructionists and can do nothing but oppose Bush at every step? My guess is the latter.
Senate Democrats treated Judge Alito shamefully during his confirmation hearings (ask Sen. Byrd). They should not bring further scorn upon themselves by filibustering a vote on a jurist of Samuel Alito's caliber.
Here's what I just sent:
DO NOT Fillibuster Alito
If you are opposed to Alito's confirmation, then vote NO on the confirmation. If you are in favor or Alito's confirmation, then vote YES on the confirmation.
Our forefathers fought to the death to create a representative democracy, so the people's votes could be heard. Your job it to vote, yes or no, not pull parlimentary tricks to avoid voting at all, because you are afraid of losing.
If you are unwilling to do your constitutional duty and vote AS THE PEOPLE IN YOUR STATE wish you to vote, then we will vote ourselves - to replace you with someone who takes their oath of office seriously, and won't play partisan games with it.
Fun? This is hugh, much more than fun, this is gigagigantic. I've so enjoyed conversating with these Senators.
Love it!
