Kevin Collins, a campaign manager for Mr. Spencer, characterized the campaign by paraphrasing Gandhi.

"First they ignore you, then they laugh at you, then they fight you, then you beat them," Mr. Collins said. "They won't be underestimating John Spencer for long."

Spencer for Senate
PO Box 864
Yonkers, N.Y. 10702-0864

A breath of fresh air to politics, in 1996, Spencer shocked the “experts” became the Republican mayor of overwhelmingly Democrat Yonkers, New York’s fourth-largest city. As mayor, he stood up for conservative principles and what was right for the people he represented.

What others thought of as impossible, he saw as challenges to overcome. He took a stagnant city in decline and changed its image to a city of progress. He revitalized the waterfront, cut taxes that others said couldn't be cut and improved services. John Spencer is proud to run on his life record and on his record as a big-city mayor who pulled a city out from under a state Financial Control Board and federal oversight of its court-ordered desegregation.

At the height of the Vietnam War, when others were avoiding the draft, John Spencer chose to enlist in the United States Army to serve his country. The awesome responsibility of leading men whose very survival depended on him as a young Infantry Lt., shaped and molded him into the leader he is today.

A principled conservative who can win.

New yorkers?...vote Republican for senator?

Al Di Mato was barely a Republican, replaced by Shummer. When Moynahan dies, Clinton wins his seat. Now New yorkers are gonna vote for the conservative John Spenser?

Guess I'm jaded. Can't see it happening.

I like the guy.

He has already taken "the beast" to task for her criticism of Bush's NSA's "domestic spying program" which monitors al-qada phone calls to Muslim fundamentalists here in the US. His words were strong and accurate.

The Democrats, perhaps emboldened by Mrs. Clinton's hefty campaign war chest and large lead in the polls, were quick to poke fun at the opposition on Thursday.

Frankly I cannot fault them in deriding the NY GOP.

Julie thanks for the info. on John Spencer who is an unknown in our neck of the woods and undoubtedly to our local newsmen who never seem to mention his name (sarcasm).

John Spencer is the best option available. He's the only person in the running who's won something, and I hear that he was a pretty good Mayor. He won his office by unseating an incumbent and was reelected with 65%. At the very least, he'll force the Hildabeast to explain herself on some of her more out there stances.

The New York GOP establishment should forget their petty turf wars and support him.
