Rally for Marriage at the NJ Supreme Court in Trenton, February 15, 2006

Posted on 01/26/2006 7:42:33 PM PST by Coleus

We invite you to gather with us in prayer for the

“Defense of Marriage”

at the Hughes Justice Complex

From 9:30 a.m. until Noon in Trenton, NJ

Wednesday, Feb. 15, 2006

“For this reason a man will leave his father and mother and be united to his wife,

and they will become one flesh.” Gen 2:24

This is a call to all N.J. Christians to unite in prayer in Trenton in support of the biblical definition of marriage as “the sacred union between one man and one woman.”

·             On this date the New Jersey Supreme Court is set to hear oral arguments in the Lewis v. Harris Lawsuit seeking to grant same-sex “marriage.” The prayer time will be conducted in a spirit of love.  Our purpose is to petition God for the future of our state and the sanctity of marriage. We are praying that the Supreme Court upholds the God-ordained sacred institution of marriage as one man and one woman only.

·             It is time for God’s people to rise up and be counted. We have been silent for far to long. NOW is the time to make a declaration with one voice as to the TRUTH as we know it, “Marriage is sacred and God has ordained it only for one man and one women!” Any other definition is unacceptable!!!

Please forward this notice to all those who believe and support marriage

Good grief. What is the make-up of the NJ courts? Any idea how they will rule? Prayers for the sanctity of marriage from here in NY.

This is it.
Time for the ultimate “showdown.”

Since 2002, marriage has been on the line in New Jersey. Lambda Legal, the ACLU -- even a group of liberal clergy -- have banned together ... working their way through our court system to legalize homosexual marriage.

They literally want to redefine marriage to include same-sex couples.

But they have not “marched forward” alone. Your New Jersey Family Policy Council has been there every step of the way. Fighting for you. Declaring your values. Taking a stand for God’s sacred and holy plan for marriage -- between a man and a woman only.

Tomorrow, arguments in the infamous Lewis v. Harris case -- to legalize same-sex marriage -- will be heard at the Supreme Court of New Jersey.

We will be there, in the courtroom, for the duration. Listening intently ... monitoring the process ... informing concerned citizens -- like you -- and planning our “follow-up” action, if necessary.

Do not think for a minute that we are going to give up on this most important issue! We’ve already poured thousands of hours of man-power and resources into this fight for traditional marriage in New Jersey.

We’ve been in continuous contact with our Legal Resource Council, the Alliance Defense Fund and the Institute for Marriage and Public Policy. They helped us craft a powerful amicus brief on behalf of 360 clergy in New Jersey -- which was filed at the Supreme Court days ago.

We’ve worked tirelessly to alert God’s people ... and to find those men and women of God who were willing to take a stand for righteousness ... to protect the family and marriage in New Jersey!

And more. Now, we will prayerfully wait to see what happens at the Supreme Court -- and we will respond. (Keep in mind, our Supreme Court is known as one of the most liberal in the land.)

Even as we continue to wage this important legal battle - that will most certainly affect marriage for generations to come in our state - we also continue our many other efforts for family, faith and religious freedom in New Jersey. And we need your help to stand strong!

Please give. Please pray. Critical, history-making days are ahead for you ... your NJFPC ... and your beloved state of New Jersey.

Although outcome unknown ... your opinion was heard!

After a grueling day at the Supreme Court of New Jersey, I wanted to send you a quick update.

And ask for your continued prayers.

Much as I expected, the hearing to decide whether same-sex marriage will be allowed in the Garden State was tough. Both sides were grilled pretty hard.

At the end of the day, there was no way to know which way the Justices are leaning. We simply have NO IDEA of the final outcome of this critical case. (It could be months before a ruling is handed down.)

This is why I ask for your prayers today.

Thankfully, I can report that components of our amicus brief were referenced in court ... meaning that YOUR VOICE WAS HEARD! Your views were recognized. The arguments we chose to highlight DID make an impact.

This is certainly an answer to prayer and a cause for hope in the days to come.

The Attorney General also drove the point home time and time again that the issue of same-sex marriage should not be for the courts to decide. It should be the people of New Jersey - through their elected officials - who determine whether or not we allow same-sex marriage in our state.

Again, another valid and well-argued point.

However, we have not won yet.

And as I mentioned in an earlier email this week - we are not about to give up the fight!

We will continue to remain vigilant. We will continue to monitor the courts, the press and the opposition. We will counter any attacks thrown our way. And we will continue planning our “follow-up” action, if the court’s ruling does not go our way.

This is not a “done deal.” We cannot claim victory. Our Supreme Court is known as one of the most liberal in the land - which means we could still have a significant fight before us.

Marriage is still at risk. Furthermore, the NJFPC continues our many other efforts for family, faith and religious freedom in New Jersey. And we need your help to stand strong! With your support, we will continue to see this battle through to the end. We will continue to fight for family, faith and religious freedom -- and to uphold God’s plan for marriage, one man and one woman only -- for as long as we are able. Thank you for standing with us at this time.

Len Deo
