The husband booked the seats and he didn't seem to realize where they were. I just couldn't believe how terrible they were...we were stuck in the same awkward position for 3+ hours. I couldn't wait to get out of there!

As far as the puppies on the airplane...I don't know if it's because I live in Phoenix, but it seems everyone takes their little dog with them on the plane...I've seen many of them being walked through the airport..and more than one relieving him/herself on the carpet! Disgusting!

Poop and pee in a bag still smell like poop and pee.

You can get tranquilizers for pets, to calm them down for traveling. A cheaper alternative -- which doesn't require a trip to the vet -- is Gravol. Check the human dose, and give your pet a proportionate amount. (E.g. about 1/4 dose for a 40 pound dog.) It also helps prevent motion sickness (which is what it's sold for). Don't take my word though -- ask your vet. (Don't take anyone's word for medical advice over the Internet -- especially for someone as important as your pet.)

Beautiful kitty! I wouldn't dare take mine on a plane anyway. Heck, he freaks out in the car.

I can cram my pit bull into a carrier, but I can't get the door latched. Would that still be OK? Oh, he does get a little ... playful after being cooped up for more than five minutes.

(no, I don't really have a pit bull).

Agreed :~D

And vomit.

Heh... put my brother's cat, for example, in a carrier, and she starts spewing out of every orifice I think. At the same time. :~D

I don't want to fly with someone's mutt under my seat or next to me.

Use another airline.

Unless things have changed, Midwest has First Class sized seating throughout the entire cabin. You probably could get your Rottie under the seat . . .

It's apparently more than just this airline...

According to a quick search... Alaska, Frontier, UsAir, Continental, United... all allow small pets in carry on. Sounds like most airlines do, and maybe this isn't really news.

Most airlines already allow this.

What are you saying? That they have some kind of a pet quota per trip? No more than two?

Also before Zorro flew the Vet had given me Kitty Valium it worked wonders, he was quiet as a mouse for 5 hours of flying!

My big boy cat Dennis does that. Trips to the vet are always action-packed.

Yeah - I'd definitely give them a tranquilizer. I wonder if the flight attendants have access to fast acting ones ;~D

Absolutely true story. I was on a Southwest flight from Orlando to Baltimore and the male flight attended was giving the pre-flight instructions and said;

“If there is cabin de-pressurization, an oxygen mask will drop over each seat. If you are traveling with a child, place the mask over the child’s face. If you are traveling with more than one child, decide which child you like best and place the mask on that child’s face first”.

He also said something about in flight service saying “We will be serving coffee, tea, sodas, drinks and Prozac for those of you traveling with small children”.

I thought he was very funny and deserved a cover charge but I don’t think everyone thought he was funny. After being on a flight with howling child, I’ll take my howling cat any day.

I do & she would hate being in the carrier, but would behave well. I also have a pug-pitbull mix who would be a pain in the butt on a plane(he is only 6 months old). But, that really doesn't matter as I take vacations to get away from my dogs.

And the noises too?

I walked into the clinic with my brother's cat screeching and spewing in a crate and the vet asked "so, are we here for an exorcism today?"
