When Iran has the bomb, to whom can that threat be credible?
Israel? Certainly.
Europe? Of course!
The US? Hardly.
But how about Mother Russia? Of course!
We, the leadership of Iran, recognize the Islamic government and our brothers fighting the infidel in Chechnya and support them totally.
Sorry, Putin is too smart not to know this, and Russia will give in if we don't allow this fall back position to proceed until fruition..

That's how I see it. Why do we have to do it, especially with few allies or unilaterally?
I'd say let them slug it out for themselves, but we'd get drawn in one way or another. We need the oil.
What do we have now? Hamas in Palestine is an ugly development, China, North Korea, Russia a wild card, want to trust them, but don't know what they will do.
I'm sorry, but I do not want any more American lives lost unless and until the rest of the free world pulls their share of the load and most of them are causing more trouble than helping.
We cannot go to war JUST to defend Israel. Let them do what they have to do.
"The US? Hardly"
How do you figure that?
The U.S. isn't vulnerable to an Iranian bomb? With <5% of containers entering the U.S. inspected? With wide-open Mexican borders you can drive trucks through? Sea-launched cigarette boats speeding into NYC harbor? Hundreds of cargo aircraft circling the globe every single day?
I beg to differ.
