What happens if some Senators don't vote and the vote is, say, 59-38? That is over 60%

Three-fifths of Senators duly chosen and sworn, so it is a certain number of votes. AS the Senate now has 100 members, duly selected and sworn, exactly 60 votes are needed to pass a cloture motion.

The Dem caucas is likely going through senate race polling #s to see which red-state donkeys can give the Yea votes.

This is similar to watching a play develop and the actors all take their positions. It is as you say, so transparent.

I do not trust Lieberman. He supports the WOT, I believe, only because he's Jewish and worries about the survival of Israel. In this, at least he is right. Also, Israel needs Bibi immediately!

Read some of Sheets speeches on the Iraq war. He is not a harmless old man who votes party line. He deserves no praise from me. He is simply acting out his part in the demo playbook while realizing he may have a tough election coming up. He is too old to run an active campaign.

He must be one of the only Senators up there that actually accept correspondence from non-constituents.

Sen. Frist does, too. I write to him because, as a California Republican, I do not have competent representation in the Senate.

Considering Byrd's age, you should throw in a VP choice, also. If you are talking a fantasy Presidential race.

Who knows what they'll do. I rarely surf over there, because I've never found a crazier or more hateful bunch of complete pyschos than are on DU!
