Exactly.
I wish Bayh were up for election this year. If he were, Indiana would have his head for not voting for Roberts & Alito!
If Chafee votes NO on Alito he will get zero support from the RNC.
His nickname could be "The Drone". ;)
Between Rush's taunts (where are your onions!) and the NYT marching orders, aren't the Dems in a box? They almost have to try, right?
Now THAT would be a joy to behold!
. Red state Democrats up for re-election in '06 had best not tempt fate.
------especially if that Dem is 106 years old.
I don't think that would stop him.
Also, as others have said, it may HELP the GOP strategically if he does vote no.
Oh, but the DUmmies are going NUTS over Byrd and the other dem supporting Alito. Many of them said F**KK (they're usual fav word) we're not voting anymore! NAH NAH NAH
ROTFLMAO I love it when they have hissy fits
When did Karl Rove start working for the other side then? This is a huge rope-a-dope. If they vote for cloture instead of going nuclear, they'll be opening the door for minority rule of judicial appointees forever. That cannot be allowed to stand. A regular fillibuster serves as a negotiating tool and therefore serves a purpose. Judicial fillibusters exist only to obstruct. Nuclear is the only option.
Oh I agree. Sens. Kennedy and Schumer are 1 and 1A in my book. Old "Sheets" is just, well, old. And wrong most of the time.
One of the biggest moonbats Walt Starr has declared that he won't vote Democrat or post anymore on DU unless the Dems filibuster. Want to bet he uses Kerry's "faux-libuster" as an excuse and acts like it's a real filibuster?
"Faux-libuster" you read it here first folks.
I'd like to see the nuke invoked as well but to do that we first have to be sure that we have the 51 votes for it and second, there has to be a filibuster. There isn't going to be a filibuster so the whole issue is moot. Yes, the dems keep the filibuster option for a future nominee, but that's where we are.
You're forgetting the senator from California - She who shall not be named.
Thank the 3 Democrat Senators for doing the right thing:
senator@bennelson.senate.gov
tim@johnson.senate.gov
senator_byrd@byrd.senate.gov
The Democrats have 31 votes against him now.
If the remaining 11 Dems vote against him,
it's all over for Alito. Now, there is a
move to filibuster by the Dems. Frist just
announced it.
They're going to Cloture on the 31st.
It's all over today.
There are 60 votes for cloture. It's over. We won!
What happens if some Senators don't vote and the vote is, say, 59-38? That is over 60%...
Could there be any renegade RINOs that vote against Alito? That would eliminate any gains from DINOs and those who come to their senses on this one issue...
